62If a Sony trade brochure is correct, PlayTV2 will be released before the end of the year and will be getting a much needed HD upgrade along with social networking functions.
Not the first thing that springs to mind when thinking of a DVR system, we can only speculate as to what they may be – perhaps your PS3 will post a note of Facebook when it’s finished recording the latest Eastenders.
The full text from the brochure is as follows:
“The award winning PlayTV has been continually updated and enhanced with new options and features – including HD viewing and recording – as well as support for additional territories.
Late 2010 will see the release of PlayTV2, which will be filled with new features and benfits to enrich the viewing experience. Among these will be a host of new social networking functions – making PlayTV2 completely unique among personal video recorders.”

I didnt get the original PlayTV because I kept saying I would wait for PlayTV2. Ill have to see how good it compares to its competitors though first.

I got play tv and its life changing, no more staying in to watch a program and its easy, i never got the hang of recording on VCR i will probably pick play tv2 up at some point but not on release, will any shops be doing a deal if you trade in play tv 1.
BTW from what i know you must have a tv licence if u OWN (even if you dont use) a tv, monitor, computer, dvd player ect ect oh and even if you have a RADIO. (its a rip off)

You can record whilst you’re playing games using PlayTV1.

Ah! I highly doubt it, because you couldn’t do that over USB. Plus, if the PS3 was going to do that, you wouldn’t need PlayTV for it – it’s just a TV tuner.

I hope it allows recording of games at 720p at least and then allow upload straight to YouTube or copy of the PS3.

I also heard a rumour that PlayTV was getting a 3d update. Whether it be the current one or playtv2 i dont know
