At GDC Europe, THQ have announced a new downloadable entry in the resurgent Red Faction franchise entitled ‘Battlegrounds’, which will be released at the end of the year.
The top-down vehicle combat game is being viewed by the company as a “companion product” to the series, like Bionic Commando: Rearmed, or Dead Space Ignition.
Battlegrounds will feature four-player co-op, and certain achievements will be tied to unlocks for the upcoming Red Faction: Armageddon, due early next year.
No other details or screenshots are available, but a trailer was shown at the panel, so expect to see it released later this week during Gamescom.

Awesome, sounds like one to look forward to…unless we’re talking online multiplayer only here

No mention whether it’s online or offline yet, I’m afraid.

i thought they were going for a survival horror thing with the next red faction game, how is a vehicle combat game going to tie into that?
