Motorstorm Apocalypse Dated For February

The world ends early next year. Book your tickets.

When we played Motorstorm Apocalypse a few months back we thought it played pretty well, looked nice enough and had plenty of potential. We’d heard vague mutterings of a 2011 release window, but that’s about as big a window as you can get so it’s nice to know that Sony have since locked down the release of the fourth game in the series to a specific month: February.

Yep, according to an apparent PDF distributed at Gamescom, the end of the world racer will be out during the decidedly wintery second month and will be bolstered by stacks of DLC via the PlayStation Store. “Thousands of new customisable vehicles, parts and graphics” will be available to buy, according to the same PDF, so expect microtransactions to be very apparent just as Los Angeles starts to fall apart.

Thanks, PushSquare.

They said they would support Pacific Rift weekly, didn’t they? Look how that turned out..

Not very impressed with the games industry tbh, a whole year’s worth of games is out from Oct to Mid-Nov and then mid-Feb to mid-March

What about the other 9m of the year when people would buy games by the buckload as they get fatigued of their collection.

Seriously publishers, please think about April -Sept.

Amen, I hate the summer drought, and always find myself broke during the busy periods you mentioned. Spread out the releases, dammit.

well it’s better than it was before…

And the main game release windows are a fair bit bigger than you make out. Sept to mid-Nov and late Jan to mid-april… Heck, we had several rather large releases in May as well…

But it’s no different to the American TV season, that’s all September-May with a long Christmas break. In a big contrast to the film industry, but that’s because going to see a film is “Going out” whilst watching TV and playing games are “Staying in”, and people like to go out in the summer.

Doesn’t mean a summer release can’t be a big success, but it can’t sustain quite so many of them as the other three seasons.

What you’ve said about films is completely true. Before the summer i had only seen 2 films which were Sherlock Holmes and Iron Man 2. But in the past 3 weeks i have been to see Toy Story 3, Inception, Knight and Day and The Expendables and am going to see Salt on Tuesday.

The games that come out in Oct to Mid-Nov / mid-Feb to mid-March will become cheaper and more affordable though for April -Sept, when you’ll actually have time to play them.

But there’s so many decent titles that are released so the cost, although cheaper than buying them on release, doesn’t have that big of a change, maybe £10/£15 off, so it is quite alot of money to spend.

haha, thats exactly what i think! I don’t see the need to rush to the shops and get a game, then place it in the rack with the other half finished games as you’ve rushed from title to title?!?!. Just buy a game, finish it, then get the next one… I bought Modnataion a month after release. i bout GOW3 and GOW collection way after release as well….Its a disk, it wont turn sour if its sat on the shop shelf.

Agreed, is it any wonder so many people stick with the one decent online title they picked up at xmas when there’s nothing else decent to play instead.

Also during April – Sept big games sell well due to the fact that there aren’t that many big titles. Red Dead Redemption proved this.

Sounds good. slightly wish it wasn’t in Feb, I’ve already got KZ3 and Portal 2 to be buying there, but on the other hand, I do rather want this game…

I’ll be getting this on a later date if it does release in Febuary, seems as KZ3 is out on the 25th I think, I’ll have my hands full with that.

This will be a later purchase for me as Killzone 3 is out in February and that will be getting my attention for a while untill Sorcery is released late March which is the release date atm.
