As regular readers will attest, we like to interact with the community as much as possible here on TheSixthAxis. We feel like we know a lot of you and we hope you feel like you know us. To that end we try to introduce new team members and let you know what we’re up to behind the scenes from time to time. This is one of those times, although we do have to apologise for some of the news of appointments being extremely late.

First of all, welcome Lee (Kovacs) as our News Editor. He has a love for everything to do with the games industry and an eye for detail that we’ve already come to rely upon. Lee started out as a regular member of the news team but has quickly shown his ability and enthusiasm and now (well, for a while actually…) takes on this exciting and challenging role (which he still seems to handle with ease). Following that appointment we moved Kris (Raen) up from Content Manager to be our fully-fledged Features Editor. Kris looks after the regular features like Sunday Thoughts and Lunchtime Discussion as well as having a hand in the donkey-work (although we all tend to share that a bit) behind reviews and previews.

New additions to our news team include Dan (DanLee) who brought you all the brilliant hands-on pieces from Gamescom last week. He’s always willing to go out of his way to get to a story, even enduring arse-numbing driving trips and scary flights in the pursuit of games coverage. Then we have Andy (eccelex23) and Josh (joshhood) who answered our call for new news writers a few weeks back, joining James (jimmy-google) who became a member of the news team a few weeks earlier. Both have gotten off to a great start in their roles with TSA and we’re really excited to see what they bring over the next few months as the release window really hots up.

We have also formalised the role that Jas-n has been filling for a long time. He is now officially TSA’s folding@home coordinator and he will be all over the main site with increased regularity to keep you all informed with what’s going on with TheSixthAxis’ folding team. There are also some rumours of incentives and competitions surrounding this worthy cause that I think Jas-n has planned. We’ll let him tell you all about that in the coming weeks.

Finally, in terms of new faces, we have a brand new Community Team to introduce. Following on from Colin‘s fantastic work with organising events and competitions we saw teflon get on board in helping with Uncharted competitions and, of course, Roynaldo has always been happy to lend a hand for the community. We decided to formalise this arrangement slightly and add a few extra hands to the pumps in the form of AG2297, Dexter 17 and gazzagb. All of these guys have expressed an enthusiasm for bigger and better community events and competitions on TheSixthAxis.

Colin will be generally overseeing and coordinating this new team but everyone is going to be working (they’ve actually already started working…) on coming up with new ways to get involved with one of the best things about this site: the community.

This new Community Team will be bringing new energy to our interaction with members. There will be more and more regular events, game nights, competitions and prizes and they will be encouraging you all to step out from behind that electronic veil and introduce yourselves. This is all part of a larger-scale plan we’ve got to increase the community engagement at TheSixthAxis which will also include some rather exciting new ways to get straight to our community content from our front page. Hopefully we’ll be able to make events easier to find and get involved in for everyone.

So that’s all the news we have for you at the moment. There will be some new things to see on the site, hopefully very soon, which will obviously be there to facilitate the increased community activity. We hope you make all the new guys feel as welcome as you always have in the past and we hope you keep an eye out for our new features as they start to appear and populate.

      • Mine just YLOD’d too :( £130 for a refurb’d fatty with 3 month warranty – how pap. Guess I’ll be waiting till I can afford a slim and PC gaming in the meantime. Gutted as it died within minutes of my purchasing Infamous on PSN and I’ve lost more than 250 hours of Demons Souls and all my UFC CAF’s, including me, Chuck Norris and Randy Bo-bandy from Trailer Park Boys.
