31Tag this as totally unsubstantiated fluff, but a ‘source’ has revealed that Brad Pitt has eyes on making a Red Dead movie.
“This is an exciting project with a great character at the center of it,” a source said, “The idea is to make this in the style of an epic Western movie but with a few modern touches. Brad is perfect for the role and he is being given first refusal.”
There has been no official word on a movie featuring the exploits of John Marston, it’s probably lurking in development hell along with Bioshock, Halo, Uncharted Mortal Kombat. However the recent Prince Of Persia movie didn’t do too badly (especially compared to other games-of-movies) so it is not unreasonable to expect Hollywood to be looking at other blockbuster games.

Prince of Persia was shocking! I don’t know how movie scripts ever get rejected, that was high budget tripe!

I thought it was brilliant.

I heard about 30 seconds of fist-gnawingly awful dialogue from it on Radio 4 and then the subsequent review of the film and knew that I wouldn’t ever watch it – the two hours of my life are worth too much to sacrifice.

I think he would make quite a good John Marston, but I be the script will be terrible.

Not a big fan of brad pitt, but I thought he was really good in Inglorious Basterds. I can see him becoming John Marston very much

Brad Pitt is actually an astounding actor, but I think Red Dead as a movie – without the interaction -would be just a cowboy movie. How dull is that?

i’d say he’s one of today’s great filmstars. just look at his work in films like Assassination of Jesse james, Benjamin Button, Se7en, 12 monkey’s.
And dude. don’t diss the cowboy movies!

I also enjoyed Babel.
RDR borrows heavily from Westerns as it is so it’ll be interesting to seehow it turns out.

Judging by his role as Jesse James I would definitely approve of this from a casting P.O.V.

Agreed, Jesse James was a great movie and he was superb in it.
(By the way, apparently, I’m a distant relative of Jesse James…how cool is that?)

Exceptionally cool! I’m apparently (swear to god) an extremely distant relative of Fletcher Christian (the Mutiny on the Bounty chap, I never have taken to authority :D ).

Very good choice for the role, if something were to happen.
