New Swarm Trailer From Hothead is Cute, Deadly

Sadistic murdering of blue things for all.

We’re really liking what’s coming out of Vancouver based Hothead Studios of late. After moving on from their Penny Arcade series (“It’s not you, it’s me,”) we got the wonderfully irreverent DeathSpank. It looks like the development house will continue the theme of infectious gameplay and comical overtones with the Pikmin-esque Swarm.

Looking for some more information about the game? From Hothead’s site:

Swarm lets the player take control of 50 utterly fearless Swarmites and drive them through an intense, entertaining and often suicidal battle for a greater good. Run, bash, huddle, boost, stack, jump, push and throw your way through gauntlets of death and destruction in an attempt to collect valuable DNA and ensure that at least one Swarmite survives. With a unique combination of mass character control and fast action, the resulting brutal aftermath will make players want to play Swarm over and over again.

Featuring innovative swarm control and imitate mechanics, Swarm is a hilarious romp through a desolate and dangerous world that offers players gameplay they’ve never experienced before.

Due for release early next year and across multiple platforms, check out the latest trailer from PAX below. It’s charming, it’s humorous, it’s stupendously violent. It’s looking great.

    so blue lemmings then? :)

what i don’t see in that video is exactly how you play the game.
do you control one and the rest follow? do you control a point where they all try to head, do you even control them yourself.

you’re a star thanks. d’_’b that’s supposed to be two thumbs up but it just looks like somebody with big ears, actually it kind of reminds me of mr ben.

ah, anyway, this looks like one of those games where most people will have as much fun killing the creatures as they will trying to save them.

this looks brilliant. But have to admit, it’s a lemmings platformer, but funnier.

“it’s humorous, it’s stupendously violent. It’s looking great.” Thats what we all thought about Naughty Bear.
    Does look more entertaining though

This has caught my attention. Looks great, and immediately struck me as a title that could use Move in a meaningful way.

Little blue chaps remind me of Berk from 80’s kid’s show Trapdoor.
