Treyarch has announced today that COD: Black Ops has gone all Hollywood with the inclusion of actors Gary Oldman and Ed Harris, as well as script writer David S. Goyer who has come on board to provide script consultation and story development support.
Oldman will reprise his role as Viktor Reznov from Call of Duty: World at War, with Harris playing one of the game’s main characters, CIA operative Jason Hudson.
Mark Lamia -Studio Head of Treyarch – had the following to say:
“Oldman, Harris and Goyer are considered some of Hollywood’s finest talents and they perfectly complement Call of Duty: Black Ops’ ambitious and immersive single player experience.
Their contributions have helped us to push the boundaries of our story telling and character development far beyond anything we have ever attempted before in the franchise.”
Is a Hollywood voice cast something you deem as important?

Can’t say Hollywood talent would really make a big difference to me but that’s definitely some top talent right there, nice work Treyarch.

I couldn’t really give a monkeys to be honest, I won’t be rushing out to buy another COD after the disappointment of MW2.

Hollywood talent in games doesn’t really fuss me either way. I now think there’s enough decent voice actors in games (Nolan North for one obviously)to ensure the talent can come from within the industry rather than A listers (well A-C listers anyway). Think I’d almost prefer to have money spent on other parts of the game than a paycheque for a Hollywood star but that’s just my opinion (saying that I was well chuffed when I recognised Keifer Sutherland’s voice in CoD-WaW and did find it amusing to hear him barking orders etc in multiplayer!

Gary Oldman’s character from World at War was the highlight for me, can’t wait to see what parts he has in Black Ops and how long he is in it for.
