Yesterday evening we reported that the developers of the new Mortal Kombat game had confirmed the existence of the PSP2. Executive Producer Shaun Himmerick announced they had the mythical device and were investigating its power.
This morning Sony have responded to Mr. Himmericks’s faux pas. Just to make things interesting I’ll let you guess which comment SCE made. Was it:
- “It’s a fair cop guvnor. PSP2 is real and all the major developers have got the hardware and are busy making loads of new games. That Shaun bloke is a bit of a scallywag eh? I’ll give him a friendly punch on the arm next time I see him down the pub, gawd love him. Anyway, can I interest you in a PSPGo? Guess we should rename ‘em PSPNotGoingAnywhereNow eh? Heh. I’ll give you ten of them and four free games if you buy us a packet of crisps. Deal?”
- “We haven’t announced any news on PSP.”

Actually No. 1 will be the Sony we all know and love, but remember, No. 2 suggest “We don’t speculate on rumours.”
No. 1 for me X)

I think 1… no 2… oh I don’t know, which one did they say?

Definitely number 1. I didn’t realise Dick Van Dyke worked for Sony these days.

Aww fankoo :) It is rather difficult making the endless “No comment” comments an entertaining read.

Sadly, I’m guessing it was the second :P

Why sadly? Sony’s stock response is “We don’t comment on rumours and speculation” – saying they have nothing to announce yet is practically confirmation in Sony PR speak!!!

The first is so much more interesting, but no doubt about the second

Number 2. But I think some of the quote is missing perhaps? I think I should read along the lines of “WE! haven’t announced any news on PSP, however some other fool has let slip (see you in court buddy) Now move along and forget you ever heard anything”

I will stubbornly believe its number one, just because I love the idea of the clever chaps at Sony liking nothing more than going to the pub and enjoying crisps.

They cant come out and say the PSP2 has been made…PSP sales are poor as is, so the news of a PSP2 will kill it off all together! Dont for get, they have shed loads of PSPgo’s to sell.
The PSP2 WILL come out xmas 2011, announcement will come at E3. Perfect timings for deves to make lots of launch games (they would of had two years), then lots of hype time between E3 and October/November release. You heard it here first!! ;)

PSP2 definately coming then. Judging on the launch price of the GO, this isn’t going to be cheap.
When do people think this is going to be officially announced? Is this another Sony E3 surprise gone t*ts up?
