Get your Move on.

Having gotten the Move a few days back, I got a chance to sample some great demos and thought that rather than have a week off from time trials and score challenges, we’d have a triple challenge! So I carefully picked out three of the best and most suitable games and levels: Sports Champions (of course), Tumble, and Flight Control (this one’s open to non-move players too, but it’s much much trickier).

No cash on offer this time around, this is purely for the joy of forearm pain. To lessen the hurt a little, we’ll hand out 100, 75 and 50 TSA points to the top 3 of each trial.

Sports Champions:

Have a crack at the Table Tennis game. In the demo, just play against either of the two opponents that you’re up against, and take a screenshot of the score you get at the end (the screen where you’re awarded stars). To be clear, it doesn’t matter which opponent you beat, it’s just the score that matters.

The retail game, though, has a couple extra points to play before you win, so you’ll be split off into your own trial. Here you want to be heading to Champions Cup, then Bronze Cup (which will be the same difficulty as the demo) then play against either of the first two opponents, Giselle and Boomer.

The secret to success is going to be not conceding any points, winning with smashes and doing it all very quickly… Well, that’s not really a secret anymore now. Just keep plugging a way, it’s definitely a case of easy to learn, a little tricky to master. Any score above and beyond 3 stars is going to be in the running, I’m sure.

You’ve just got to be ready with your camera after you’ve done well with this one, in the demo. In the retail game, you can take a photo of the main menu, with the high score against your opponent on show.

Tumble:

This one’s a good game for people with brains, and 3D TVs too. The main mode has you stacking things on top of one another, but here at TSA, we love to just blow stuff up. So, head the Zone 1 Level 3 Destruction, called Duck and Cover.

You have 3 explosive charges to place on a big tower of blocks and need to try and get the tower to collapse as far from the centre as possible. There’s a whole boat load of strategy and physics going into this one, so much that I’ve played it at least 20 times and still don’t have a completely clear idea of what to do!

When and where you have your little explosions is always important.

I’ll happily take the “High Score” shown in this pic after you’ve finished your attempt.

Flight Control:

No demo available here, but then again, this is possibly the must have Move game at launch. I think the point is to keep the air hostesses happy, and they seem to like it when you crash the aircraft into one another… How perverse!

The trial here, though, is to not crash things on the 3rd level (single aircraft carrier in the sea). I’ll be going all out on this challenge in particular, so lets see if you can beat me. Bidding starts at 60 successful landings.

This is just the main menu with this particular level selected.

In all three challenges, take a picture of the screen with your high score (as demonstrated above), and submit it along with your TSA ID to stefan[at]tsa2.org with the subject “I have Move”.

This time round, you’ll have until Sunday 26th of September to get your entries in.

Good luck!

    • Flight control works absolutely fine with the dualshock, but it’ll be interesting to compare the scores from the 2 control methods!

    • It’s all about speed and smash winners. Someone who can get 5 smash winners and not lose a point will be in the upper echelons.

      • Shame challenge mode isn’t in the demo (i assume) as that would’ve made a really good high score competition. You could have a different competition for the challenge mode on each of the 6 events. Bocce’s my joint favourite along with table tennis, would love a comp for that too. Real shame there’s no online multiplayer in sports champions. Would’ve loved to play there games online. I actually don’t understand why there isn’t, can’t have been that hard to implement can it?

      • lag and 1:1 motion aren’t conducive to fun gaming, no matter where the lag is coming from… It could be rather noticeable…

And you can enter the Sports Champions one with the demo. Just play against the two opponents it gives you, and get the highest score. As said above :)

  8. I’ll try the Tumble one. It’s a lot of fun so far and I’m terrible at the other two so it’s really my only option but the best thing is, I’m loving every second regardless of my skill level. :)

  9. I’m well up for the table tennis one. I’ll definitely be entering.

  10. Great idea for a comp!
I don’t fancy my chances at the Table Tennis yet but i’ll have a bash at the Tumble challenge.

Are you sure you don’t want to try again? I only ask because i’ve done better ;)

      • Haha, nice one, you got me there :P
I meant to say “demonstrated by” as opposed to “shown in”

      • lol in other words you’re going to beat that score now – i should have kept my mouth shut! :)

      • I tried Flight Control HD – i haven’t even got past the 1st level lol. I’ll stick with Tumble.
Entering the competition and replaying that level numerous times in Tumble, surprising myself when i got a new high score and then trying to top that , gave me even more enjoyment out of the game. Nice one folks. Must do this more often. :)
