UK Charts: Week Ending 18th September

So Halo: Reach takes the top spot – who would have thought it?  Judging by TSA’s review the game deserves its place at the top of the pile.  Rather more interestingly though is Sports Champions coming in at number two – indicating that Move may have had a decent launch. Check out our review here.  I do find it surprising that no other Move only games are in the top twenty – I expected Start The Party to fly off the shelves, but instead it’s down in 29th.

With more new releases on the way it will be interesting to see what places where this time next week.

  1. Sports Champions is great fun but after reading the Halo review I can see why it’s second. =D

    • yup, soo tru & i shouldnt be sayin this coz im a sony fanboy lool

      • Please can you type properly? It’s really starting to grind my gears.
As for the charts I’d say Start the Party is alot more fun than Sports Champions. Any game that projects a sword into my hand on screen is an instant winner for me :-)

  2. No surprise to see Halo: Reach at the top.

    • The fact that Halo is number 1 isn’t going to seen as news to many as everyone was expecting it. Strangely it will be the game at number 2 that will end up getting headlines as it’s a bit of a surprise.

  3. Whats that game on top? never heard of it! :-D

    • Something to do with S Club 7 I think

    • its a “beyonce – S club 7” colaboration

  4. Halo! Top! What a fkn joke! :P
    My opinion.

  5. Reach at number one on launch weekend could have been predicted on the day they announced that they were making it! Don’t forget that it had an extra three days of sales too, getting a rare Tuesday launch at UK retail.
Sports Champions being so high is a good sign for Sony, remember that for every disc they sold of that game they also sold at least one Move controller or starter pack. Hints at a solid launch for the format, if not all of the software.

  6. Picked up starter pack this weekend and had great fun.

Sports Champions will be purchased this week, shame that TV superstars is still a month away. The demo was great fun (though not to sure on the fashion part of it)

    • Truly goes to prove the saying ‘each to their own’. I had infinitely more fun pulling funny faces in the character creation part of TV Superstars than the game itself. It felt like Wii shovelware to me.

  7. Great news for Move, that is definitely the best (full disk) launch title as well.

    • Speak well for that hardware if a full disk game is 2 launch week.

  8. Prince of Persia is still doing well! I’m a bit surprised, well done Sports Champions

    • Maybe because the PoP film was released on DVD last Monday? Might have jogged peoples memory about the game.

  9. Only one Wii title in the top ten, deary me.

    • Toy Story and Tiger woods are also out on the Wii but Wii sales have really dropped off now. It’s not as though there has been much released over the last month or 2 to knock the Wii games down either.

I don’t know what the sale of consoles are like in the UK but I have noticed the Wii’s floor space in shops decrease and there’s not really anything in the pipeline for a big Christmas push.

Nintendo must be desperately trying to get the 3DS out in time for Christmas.

  10. I don’t know how many copies of Sports Champions were sold but it seems to indicate decent sales figures for the Move launch.
