GameCity Announced OneLaughLeft

GameCity, the self proclaimed “World’s best-loved videogames festival” has today announced a special interlude in next month’s Nottingham-based frivolities: OneLaughLeft, organised (and populated) by the chaps behind popular podcast and radio show OneLiveLeft. Part of GameCity 5, which runs from the 26th to the 30th of October, OneLaughLeft will take place at The Forum, NG1 4AA on the Wednesday (the 27th) starting at 7pm and ending at 11.

Tickets are a fiver, and the bar’s open until 3, we’re told.

The press release says that headlining the night will be three of the UK’s best new comedians, with award-winning Graham Goring (best show Manchester Comedy Festival 2009) and Leicester Mercury nominee Chris Stokes (Pleasance Comedy Reserve 2009) performing their hit routine, Nerds of a Feather, and award-winning Wil Hodgson, (2004 Perrier Award, Best Newcomer, Edinburgh Festival Fringe), finishing the list of performers.

“We’ve had some pretty stupid ideas before,” says Simon Byron, co-presenter, One Life Left “but we may have gone a little too far with this one. We’re all – genuinely – terrified. Honestly, whenever I think of the night, my wrists start sweating. Ste has been in tears. And Ann feels sick, but that may be the early stages of pregnancy. Who can tell? It was quite a night.”

GameCity Director Iain Simons said, “Personally I’ve never found videogames funny. They’re best played alone, in the dark, as a way to reflect upon oneself. The One Life Left team promise to change my bleak, pessimistic worldview and make me into a better person through laughter.”

  1. unfortunately i live in south Africa so i cant even think about going, but the actual idea is actually a nice one, i would love to go to a comedy show, however somehow incorporating it into gaming is going to be hard but if they manage to do it then it sounds like a whole lot of fun.
