We have a new MNR Champion! (Well, that was already a foregone conclusion, really, but still!). Last week, MadJunkBoy and Yamster beat Manorhowze and R1MJAW respectively to make their way to the finals. Both results were quite the upset as Manor was the first MNR 1v1’s runner up and R1M regularly dominates the TSA MNR Meets. So two relative unknowns made it past two of the favourites, but who made it out the winner?

Before we get there, Manor and R1M obviously had to battle it out for 3rd place. The first race, Manor led for almost the entire thing, holding R1M at bay with cunningly placed mines but R1M was holding back strategically, and unleashed a level 3 rocket in the second half of the final lap to sail past for the win with a 3 second lead.

Race 2 was a different matter as Manor bumped into a barrel on the first lap and struggled to catch up. Just as he did, though, barrels attacked him again and he was out of the count. Clearly R1M has affiliates in the Barrel Rollers Union and (when they’re not on strike), they help him out.

With 3rd place in the bag they raced to see if Manor could get a consolation win in, but it wasn’t to be and R1MJAW took the match up to 3-0 to secure his 3rd place in style.

Yamster and MadJunkBoy then raced in the finals and was a story of two opposing tactics. Yamster went for top speed whilst MadJunkBoy went for firepower (and dodging mines, of course). So the first race was very evenly matched, see-sawing back and forth, but in the end, Yamster came out on top. Speed winning out, even as he hit himself with his own landmine!

The second round was just as closely matched, and fraught with mistakes. Both drove off the track a couple of times, in some of the more precarious areas, but it carried on as the first race did with Yamster racing off, being reeled back in by MadJunkBoy’s missile and lightning strikes. Right up until the final few meters, this continued, until Yamster was propelled over the line by MadJunkBoy’s rockets! A few seconds sooner, and he could have levelled the tie, but it was taken out of reach by Yamster to win 2-0 and take the title.

So Yamster is our new champion!

Congratulations to our top three, they made it through some pretty tough matches to get here and thoroughly deserve what’s coming to them (TSA points mainly). As and when ProjectJay returns, I’ll be sure to match him up against Yamster and see who our Champion of Champions is.

Also, thanks to everyone that took part and to Roynaldo for getting the ball rolling a month ago, making this yet another successful TSA competition. We’ve got a flawless record so far, and may it stay that way.

Don’t forget to check out the Competitions and Community tabs to the left (and up a bit) to see all the latest things that are going on, and sign up to as many TSA meets as you possibly can. The regular MNR meets will carry on for a while yet so turn up and race and if you have a new track, Icuyesido will be sure to have it played.

I’ve elaborated from some brief race reports here. Apologies for any minor inaccuracies.

  5. Congratulations Yamster, and commiserations to MJB. I feel slightly better knowing I was beaten by the eventual champion.
    Cheers Manor.
A big thanks to TSA for holding competitions like this, and for the awesome community … I probably wouldn’t be quite as good if I didn’t have some awesome drivers to contend with in the MNR meets.
