We’re playing through as much of Fallout: New Vegas as we can before our review tomorrow but we were just interrupted by melodic chime of an email arriving in our inbox. Bethesda are letting us know about the plans for the first lot of downloadable content for this week’s hotly anticipated post-apocalyptic jaunt.
According to the press release:
The first downloadable content for Fallout: New Vegas will be available this holiday season through Xbox LIVE® for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft.
No mention of Sony’s side of the multiplatform release getting any loving but we suspect that this will possibly just be a timed exclusive as it was for 2008′s Fallout 3.
Fallout: New Vegas is released tomorrow in North America and on Friday in the EU. We’re currently under review embargo so we can’t tell you what we think of the game but call back to TSA at 3PM tomorrow and bask in the radioactive glow of our full review.

Not surprising really. The same thing happened with Fallout 3.

Fallout 3 is also broken on PS3. It’s ridiculous how they still sell it. Won’t be buying this Vegas thing at all. Maybe it’s worth pirating though?

Sorry, isn’t the whole game just Dlc for fallout 3 in the first place? Oh, it’s not? My mistake, it just looks a hell of a lot like it is. Fallout 3.5 maybe?

Just because it looks the same doesn’t mean it is. Besides, many of the original Fallout developers now work at Obsidian.

funny dont all those games that use unreal engine look the same, yet somehow they managed to be marketed as totally different games

Fallout 3 was cast iron guaranteed 100% Xbox 360 exclusive, and we all know how that turned out.
If you own both consoles the 360 will be the version to get, probably as the engine will perform much better on the 360, as well as getting this DLC (earlier).

Just seen the video. Christ that game was choppy on PS3! I’m not buying it until they patch the hell out of it on PS3.

i remember reading an official statement saying it wasnt released on ps3 straight away for 2 reasons, 1 they couldnt seem to code it properly at original time of release and 2 because xbox users are apparently more likely to splash the cash on digital content where ps3 users prefered to just buy hard copy and fear the devil known as digital. of course they could have just been saying that so they didnt seem quite as bad but meh

well it must be the latter then as said dlc caused me restart my PS almost as much as the PS3 browser
also it was poop, the steath suit made the game to easy, zeta was boring and the guns where crap(repair gell thing was quite good i suppose),point lookout was good but stoopid(hillbillys with more offensive capabilities than a tiger tank) the lever action rifle was fun though OH! and the zombies built like a shithouse of the brick verity where not fun
the pit made little impact also why wasn’t there an option to ritualistically sacrifice the baby to your chosen deity by devouring its intestines, this is a rpg afterall

Fallout 3 was rendered pretty un playable for me with the DLC. It will be a shame if Bethesda havent learnt their lesson :(

The only things that have changed are the story, location and characters, everything else, including all gameplay mechanics and shoddy graphics are reportedly exactly the same. To me, that spells Dlc, not whole new game.

Although I highly doubt that pointing this out will change your already-set and “old-school elitist” mind at all, you’re neglecting to notice that while the skeleton is similar, the amount of new content and features is so large that it’d be absolutely ridiculous to call it DLC. The only way you could even say it is if you were trying to be a hater.

Why would i be trying to be a hater? I enjoyed fallout 3, in spite of it’s many flaws. You wait til all the reviews roll in tomorrow, you’ll see what’s said. Exactly the same game as the last 1, even down to the graphics engine struggling to cope. You’ll see, trust me, you’ll see.

I agree with with Tony to be honest. I expect gameplay evolution and improved graphics from sequels, especially upon a two year old game. It is like one massive DLC pack. In fact, for months I thought it was the latest DLC pack for Fallout 3.
