Oh, what’s that word. The word for those steps you get in shopping centres, tube stations and airports. You know, the ones that move for you. I call them “Lazy-Steps” myself.
Anyway, on with the news. MAG, or Massive Action Game if you’re a fan of underused “backronyms”, is a gift that just keeps on giving. SCEE and Zipper are clearly not content with shipping a game, keeping the servers from exploding and watching people shoot each other. Oh no, they want to give you more. The recently released (in September, I’m told) MAG 2.0 patch has paved the way for this DLC which is coming on November 3rd for the bargain price/extortionate rip-off of €7.99/£6.29 (delete as appropriate).
The DLC includes a separate game mode pitting each of the three factions against each other at the same time in an up-to 96-man battle for supremacy. The aim is to win the required number of points before the timer expires or to have the most points as a team when the clock ticks down.
The game is set up in two phases, the first being a challenge to seize and hold three objectives. When any one team holds two of the objectives the second phase will begin and those original three will be locked down and a fourth objective opened. Whichever team won the first phase by securing two of the three objectives must now defend this, fourth point, against both of the other teams. There are also three entirely different environments for this new mode and nine new weapons:
- Raven: Gotha Elite (Assault Rifle) | KP21 (Machine Gun) | Kinmark SRS (Sniper Rifle)
- SVER: Tamsen MK2 (Assault Rifle | Ariet SFW (Machine Gun) | Rubakho SVR (Sniper Rifle)
- Valor: M31 CIR (Assault Rifle) | M245 (Machine Gun) | Sentinel M421 (Sniper Rifle)
Sounds like plenty of new stuff for MAG fans to smash through and shoot at. But what name have they chosen for this new content? The Lazy-Steps Expansion!
Oops, sorry, I mean the Escalation Expansion.
