So we all know that Activision is now richer than Scrooge McDuck, but how do they intend to spend all that green? Well it looks like the CoD franchise is getting a boost, with Activison set to plough ‘significant resources’ into it.
Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg had the following to say:
“We remain focused on continuing to bring the Call of Duty franchise to new consumers around the world. In 2011, we expect to enter the year with strong momentum from continued sales of Black Ops and the rest of the CoD catalogue.
We’ve added significant resources to the brand and next year we’ll offer Call of Duty community our largest line-up of exciting new digital content ever.”
It will be interesting to see what type of digital content they have in mind. Whilst the focus will most likely be on multiplayer DLC, I personally would love to see some new single player story missions, as it means I can be an unsociable bugger and not have to go online and get my butt kicked by a twelve year old.

In addition to Infinity Ward’s CoD8, Sledgehammer’s first CoD game will be released next year I think, and is confirmed as being an FPS, which is surprising as I thought they were going to make spinoff title maybe a 3rdperson action title similar to Uncharted2. Perhaps they’re doing a digital only FPS release?
If two titles do land next year I can see the CoD franchise going the way of the Hero franchise and dying from over-exposure

More spec ops please. That was the highlight of MW2 and they just gave up with it. So much more potential to be realised. MW3 better have some sort of co-op campaign, otherwise… er… i’ll still buy it.. O_o

Well as soon as KZ3 is out and Brink, I would be touching CODBO anymore I doubt. Since KZ is quality and Brink looks really good and different.

Brink looks terrific but KZ3 is very disappointing for me.

They seriously need a long campaign, £40+ for a 4 to 6 hour game max, yeah there is online but what about those that don’t have net its not very good paying a lot and completing it the same day.@ryan1991 why is KZ3 dissapointing to you? (Just asking) i had a lot of fun with KZ2 probs the best online shooter i have played but it got to easy once i unlocked the scout.

I would want something like Spec Ops – just fun missions with simple objectives. Or anything Zombie related, as that’s gonna be awesome.
