We’ve been informed that ZeniMax Media, the company that owns Bethesda Softworks and Id, has completed the acquisition of Sweden’s MachineGames. The Swedish studio was born out of the ashes of Starbreeze, who are most famous for The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher’s Bay and The Darkness.
This news comes hot on the heels of ZeniMax Media’s acquisition of Tango Gameworks, the studio run by Shinji Mikami (Resident Evil). So it seems that there is a very talented stable of studios being built around Bethesda Softworks and they will all, we assume, have access to id Tech 5. So this news, while ostensibly about the business behind our games, could have some very exciting prospects for the future.
Now, we’re also hearing that Viacom are putting Harmonix up for sale. Anyone think Rock Band 4 would look good built on id Tech 5?

Absolutely, loved the first one – one of the first PS3 games I owned and played to death (via purgatory and then back again).

All of this is white noise until they say “And now we’re finally going to focus on the next Elder Scrolls”… Does my breath seem bated?
