Alien Breed 3: Descent Announced

The third installment of Team17’s claustrophobic, faux-isometric alien shooter is coming soon. According to our press release it will be here this Wednesday, the 17th of November, on XBLA and Steam.

This is the concluding part of the trilogy which follows Cheif Engineer Conrad as he struggles to get his crashed ship, the Leopold, operational again. We saw the crashed Leopold and the ship it collided with in the first installment. Alien Breed: Assault saw Conrad taking the fight to the alien swarms and now Descent takes the story crashing into the icy planet below. We’re promised external action with hull-walking set-pieces and flooded corridors adding variation to the environments. It’s all set to be available for a price of 800MSP or £6.99 on Steam.

Let’s have a look at some screens:

  1. I’m not a huge fan of what they’ev done with the series. It’s great for the first hour but it become far too repetitive even in co-op.

  2. same here, enjoyed them in the Amiga days but haven’t been tempted by any of these. They must have done well though or they wouldn’t be putting out another one.

  3. Team17 couldn’t have picked a worse time to announce a game, eh… oh, hello GT5

The game’s are fantastic but as it took so long to come out on the PS3 & the sequel almost seemed to follow about 3 days later I think they’ve got things drastically wrong. They are good games, perhaps they do get a bit repetitive later on, but whilst they treat almost 50% of the market as second class citizens they’ll struggle to make the breakthrough that perhaps their game deserves.

    • feel the same way for NFS was going to get it on Friday but will wait now.

  4. Alien Breed 2 still isn’t out on PSN, an no release dates for 2 or 3 of the series, ahhh the joys of being a PS3 owner!
