GT5 Gets Two Day European Delay

Looks like the magical release date of November 24th might only apply to the UK and the US, as the Dutch and French PlayStation sites now display a date of November 26th, and it’s the same across mainland Europe.

The UK date remains unaffected at present, displaying the original date of the 24th.

We’ve pinged Sony for an official comment, as we know lots of people had the day booked off in anticipation of the big event, if we get anything back we’ll update this post either way for confirmation.

A mid-week release date is rare, especially in the UK, so we’re half expecting our localised date to slip too, although a last minute delay of just two days is hardly going to ruin everyone’s week, right?

[Update] Is the date changing at all? According to Kotaku, Sony are claiming “We’ve announced the date as the 24th and have not changed that at all.” Let’s just say: “Gran Turismo will be out before December,” and leave it at that. [Thanks Timur]

  1. Whaaattt FFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU…………..

    Oh UK is unafected, phewww!

    sorry rest of Europe

  2. Did kind of think this may well happen as we do seem to stick with this Friday release point for the UK no matter what.

    • I was thinking that, a Wednesday release seems a little strange for the UK.

      • If Call of Duty wasn’t released on Friday then so can Gran Turismo!!

      • Ahh yeah, good point. I hadn’t really thought about it cause I’m not all that interested in either game to be honest.

  3. A bit of a shame if it does come to the UK, but I’m ok with this if it does happen.

    • Absolutely, what’s 2 days when we’ve waited so many years since GT4.

      • Nothing, I can wait another couple of days if it’s delayed here too.

  4. The game is ready for release. Why are Europeans treated as second class citizens, and forced to sit back and accept the fact that North America gets a game first. Yet again.

Why not release it on Friday the 19th in Europe and make North America wait 5 days for it, see how they like it.

    • i always think that, its purely down to Sony trying to get brownie points from the yanks as they wont let go of there US made 360’s… The US PSN gets movies, HOME, Demos, DLC ect ect 1st. nothing will change until the US puts the PS3 at the top of the sales figures.

On GT5, i thought this story was going to be a joke on a some sort of patch or dlc…bit piss poor delaying it again! surly they must of known how many disks they could ship by what date!

  5. Damn the release better not change – I preordered my copy to work and I might not be in Thursday/Friday :(

  6. First site is the danish and not the dutch site, the dutch one would be http://nl.playstation.com/ps3/games/detail/item240993/Gran-Turismo%C2%AE-5/ :)

  7. When i went to HMV yesterday they had a sign up which said GT5 released 1st december.

  8. oh ffs, just stop telling dates if you wont make them… its ridiculous. just tell us its released when it actually is already on the shelves.

  9. I knew it would be delayed again. I’m saying it’ll be out next year.

  10. Hope it’s not the 26th. I’m stock taking till till god knows what time. Was hoping to get a couple of nights in first. Plus with ‘Sony speed’ 10gb install, prolly won’t get to play till Sunday!!
