Kinect Doubles Xbox 360 Sales

36It looks like the Xbox 360 is on a bit of a roll, as UK sales have doubled over the last week. Whilst CoD: Black Ops would seem to be the likely candidate, with the Xbox version taking up over half of the sales, MCV are reporting that Chart-Track figures circulating around the web show that the Xbox 360 saw a massive boost in sales thanks to the arrival of Kinect.
Whether you like their marketing or not, it’s fair to say Microsoft has got it spot on this year, and we are expecting a Christmas period full of Kinect adverts everywhere.

Funny thing is that after owning my Xbox for near on two years she only ever noticed the xbox when i left a controller lying around! and it got in her way, but now since they started to show the Kinect ads on TV she has been asking about the Xbox and how this works with it. Job done on my other half.

Whilst it may well be true, how do they actually know? Is it the number of 360 Kinect bundles sold? Otherwise surely you have no idea why people are buying it. I’d say it’s far more likely to buy it for Black Ops than Kinect.
If true though that is pretty incredible.

If sales were bouyed by Black Ops, surely the PS3 would have had a similar lift, and all but cancel it out.
It’s expected the PS3 will get an absolutely massive rise in sales when GT5 comes out, whenever that is now.

a) A high tide floats all boats
b) Pretty much anyone who was buying a 360 just for CoD would already have one for MW2, W@W & MW1, sure a few more may be sold, but double? That’s entirely unrealistic.
Perhaps, you know, Kinect just resonates with people.

Yeah it is. And they all bought their consoles 3 years ago when they thought GT5 was originally coming out. How is it gonna sell consoles when all the ads on TV are for COD and Kinect exactly?

loads of my mates who have 360s are all buying PS3s for GT5. Hell the ladies at work are buying GT5 Bundles for their husbands for Xmas.
I think PS3 sales will blow up….!

I’m seriously thinkin of getting an xbox slim, not for kinect tho i sold my elite a couple of months back to prepare for the then GT5 release of nov 5th, but i really wanna play fable 3 and reach

Where do you live GTD. My bro has a dusty 360 that everyone uses, it does the rounds when a game comes out that us PS3 Owners would like to try but is unavailable….. bet he would lend you it, you would just have to rent Reach and Fable :-)

Fable 3 was actually the game that pushed me to trade in my 360,total dissapointment,the story was well told but has been about since Shakespeare,same old 1 button mob bashing and they bizarrely made the farting bit into a side game now.
Not a Halo fan since the first one so can’t say on that but yeah the advert makes it look amazing.

Not to be funny or anything but double what exactly? Double 1 is 2 but that doesn’t make 2 an achievement! Give me numbers or a year on year comparison or a comparison with the week Halo Reach launched etc. This sounds dangerouslylike MS PR spin to me
