Crikey I feel a bit depressed this morning. Between this and numerous redundancies and closures, it seems like I’ve done nothing but bring you bad news. In the wake of its first-half net loss of €89.8 million Euros, Ubisoft’s shares have dived 22% to €7.50. This is the biggest drop since at least 1996.
I’m now scooting about trying to find some good news…well it’s only a week until GT5′s release! Hurrah!

I still think it would be a lot better for these companys to release AAA titiles through out the the year rather than within this two month window just before christmas. Then this sort of boom, bust cycle companys seem to go through would be leveled out, maybe.

Sorry Dan, it looks like your day is getting more depressing, just seen the GT 2 day Europe(not UK) delay. You had to ginx it didn’t you and mention GT in your article. :)
I hope Ubisoft can bounce back from this. Wonder if any of the other companies are looking at a buy out of them?

Bad news for Ubi, hope they bounce back they’re one of my favourite developers/publishers. I don’t know how they have so much of a drop, they have got some quality franchises Assasin’s Creed, Prince of Persia, Splinter Cell. Maybe this recent drop in figures will convince Ubi to go multiplatform when they can in future though instead of doling out bull**it excuses for exclusiity. I’m looking at you Splinter Cell: Conviction

Lose a load of money in half the year, go crying to their government about needing even more money in tax breaks, then when the half year comes round with the bumper profits in they pay less or no tax on it

I wonder if this is related to their imbecilic PC DRM. Probably PC versions of their games haven’t been Ubi’s main source of income. But from what I read I’m not the only one who thinks twice before buying Ubisoft products, PC or otherwise, ever since they introduced it.
And I DO buy Ubisoft games, only nowhere near as frequently as I used to.
