Looks like the calls for Firefly and Castle star Nathan Fillion to play the Uncharted series’ dashing hero Nathan Drake have fallen on deaf ears, as Mark Wahlberg (yes, that’s Max Payne) has confirmed in an interview with MTV News that he will be playing the role of Drake in the upcoming movie based on the games.
Wahlberg, who also appeared in The Other Guys and The Fighter, will play the role in a script written and directed by David O. Russell. “David is one of the best writer/directors I’ve ever worked with,” says Wahlberg in the interview. “The idea that he has is just insane. So hopefully we’ll be making that movie this summer.”
That “insane idea” doesn’t appear to be based on either of the games, however, with the actor also confirming that both Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci will also be appearing in the film adaptation, as Drake’s uncle and dad, respectively, neither of which have appeared thus far in the games.
The interview’s below.

Uncharted the Movie has now fallen from the promise of ‘the movie that could make movies of games cool’ to simply ‘epic fail’ – Nothing against Mark Wahlberg personally, but he is such a poor choice for Drake (& why the need to introduce characters that haven’t even been introduced in the games?).
I agree, an epic failure in all ways possible. I’m actually irritated about them introducing new characters to the brilliant Uncharted universe, don’t they dare try to explain stuff about Nate’s past etc. etc.
The best thing to do would probably be to just ignore* this whole film. Pretend that it doesn’t exist.
*try to ignore
Balls.
Dohhhh!
I hope to be proven wrong but I very much doubt Dirk Diggler will make a good Drake, LOL!!
This sounds awful now. Making up family members unnecessarily, probably greatly unrelated to the games, it’s not gonna go well. Never was gonna though was it?

really? he’s been in a few big films over the years you’ll have heard of
Dont care about the Actors … but to make stuff up for the movie … not a good start
Lets see, one of the most charismatic and witty video game characters ever being played by the LEAST charismatic and whiny actor in hollywood…. Nathan Filton would have been perfect.
Wow. That’s a shocking decision. Perhaps he is very cheap and what with the risk in bringing games to the big screen, and them failing to capture the essence of the original medium, they decided to play safe? Who knows. The proof will be in the pudding……and with whalberg in the lead role that pudding will probably spotted dick n
Like any game to movie has been any good anyway.
Don’t mind Marky Mark
