EA has confirmed that Mass Effect 2 will be hitting stores on January 18th for North America, and January 21st for the EU. Coming in at number 38 in our top 100 most anticipated titles of 2011 is no small feat, so it’s fair to say we’re are more than a little excited. As previously stated, the original Mass Effect will never see the light of day on Sony’s black box of magic and wonder, so number two will ship with an interactive comic to help fill in the gaps.
2011 is certainly going to start with a bang.

Forgive my ignorance, but is this game good? my mate was banging on about it when it came out on the 360, but will it just be “poorly” made with low key graphics like other games that appear on both ps3 and 360? the 360 always gets the better version it seems

They say it will run as good, if not better than the 360 version. Whoever ‘they’ are :oD

I’d bet that this is a statement that Bioware will be devoting much more effort to PS3. Anything less then stellar will gut me.

Is there any word on what price the game will launch at. I wouldn’t complain at £40, but nowadays you can pick the game up on competing consoles for a tenner.

yeah im not happy about it. its my birthday in january so i can get if for ‘free’ lol but if i was buying it myself I would begrudge spending £35 on it as (like you said) its less than a tenner new in most places. come to think of it. i may wait and just pick it up when it drops to a tenner on the ps3, got so many games that need completing and i just bought kane and lynch 2 for £9.50 (check forum for link)

To be fair you do get all the DLC included. £40 a bit much, Maybe £25 or £30.

Keep in mind the PS3 version will have all the DLC released on disc from the start, which alone adds up to something like 20 quid’s worth of content, with the standard price around for the 360 version of the game around the 15-20 quid mark nowadays. So even at the likely 35 quid mark, the PS3 version seems like it’d be pretty decent value in comparison.
PC version is obviously significantly cheaper than either however you slice it of course, and is likely to remain the best version of the game, lets face it.

I’m beginning to think that, especially with the release schedule in the following months (Dead Space 2, Infamous 2, Killzone 3 to name but 3 titles). I will have to prioritise…
Oh and couple that with the fact that there are still things that have come out this year which I want to get…
