It’s the penultimate Store update of 2010. Lots on offer here from a few quid off Droplitz and Scott Pilgram, to Prototype for the insane amount of £31.99/€39.99. If Sony manage to shift more than a handful at that price point we’ll be shocked. There’s also a new Move enabled Planet Minigolf demo and a couple of fresh Princes decked out in some HD duds. What will you be picking up?
(Offer prices available until the 22nd December)

“It’s the penultimate Store update of 2010″. Isn’t next week the penultimate?

One more update to go before Christmas (the 22nd). I don’t believe there will be an update on the 29th. So, this is the penultimate.

Fair enough. I’d be surprised if there isn’t one in that week. Although we are promised our xmas discounts next week which run until the 5th Jan which is the 1st Wednesday in 2011.

“Prototype (£31.99…”
Seriously? Download sales are never gonna take off properly until Sony start seriously looking at pricing. This game is Platinum now which means the RRP is £20 and places like ShopTo have it for under £13!
Who on earth is paying £31.99?!

Morons. (Both in answer to your question and Sony)

Not Sony, they don’t publish Prototype.

The price is set by the publisher. In this case, your ire should be directed at Activision.

Ok, replace Sony with Activision. Morons.

Maybe they got the 1 and the 3 round the wrong way ;-)

@tonyyeb
I think Sony should still be included. They choose what to allow onto the PSN, and they should know that stupid pricing reflects poorly on them too. And if the terms of their agreement don’t allow them to refuse then they shouldn’t have signed that agreement.
Morons!

Activision in “Trying to charge more than they should do for a game” SHOCKER! :D

Acti set the pricing, but surely someone at SCEE said “you’ve got to be effin’ joking that will never sell”
It’s $30 in the US, so SCEE aren’t totally innocent here

Its been said many times, its up to the Publishers for some reason and Sony have no control.
Its put me off buying many PSP games even Metal Gear

And it is “only” $29.99 on the US site!

How long did it take you to make that, or did you just copy and paste it?

I bought it.
Ok, I didn’t. I just wanted to see the smoke coming out of your ears. It’s a joke of a price.

Yeah, it’s available on the US store for $29.99. Which is a lot more reasonable.

The price may be set by publishers but I think Sony should be proactive about it. It looks bad on them because it’s their ‘shop’.
I doubt I am alone in mistakenly blaming Sony for the price and that is because that is how it appears to the layman.
They need to sit down with the publishers and just say “look, we are not putting your game on sale on our store at a price that’s 50% higher than the disk RRP, it’s taking the piss out of our customers”

All Sony can do is say to Acti “this is too high. It won’t sell” which they have done. In the end it’s up to the Publisher to set the Store price, just like it’s up to them to set the RRP at retail.

But at retails, shops discount the price well below the RRP.

They do if they want business, that’s how competition works and is one of the dangers of digital distribution

Oh look Raziel & Kain (kane?)are in the dlc for Lara Croft well I hope this leads to a new game? remake or reboot?

Planet Minigolf is really good, I’ve had a lot of laughs with mates on it. Move should make it better.
