In this latest Rockstar Games video, the developers behind LA Noire talk about how they achieved that astounding facial performance capture. We’re really looking forward to seeing more from this as the atmosphere, setting and delivery all seems to be perfect.
While there have been big steps forward in MoCap technology and facial performance in games this year, Rockstar really looks to be moving on to a whole new level in subtlety and accuracy.
Take a look at the video and let us know what you think in the comments below.

Man that was amazing! The realism is surreal! (hehe)
This will be an awesome game.
I don’t have enough words at the moment to describe how highly I rate Rockstar. They really know what the people want, and boy do they deliver.

WOAH. This needs to be used much more in games. I’m bored of static, low quality, tiny flappy mouth movement characters. Bring on the realism!

I thought it was the guy out of mad men when I saw the video form a few weeks ago, they really go his likeness down to a tee. amazing.

I havn’t logged out forever. I must be just used to mouths not looking right in games and CG films, but it looked kind of creepy, mind blowing, but creepy. That studio is a lot like my bedroom.

The facial animations are striking in their nuance and subtlety and relying on those for clues is going to make for an interesting game experience. I can’t wait to see more.
