UK Charts: Week Ending 18th December

So here we all are, knocking on the door of 2011.  The giant that is Black Ops retains the top spot, even if it has enraged a fair few PS3 fans.  FIFA 11 is like a rock, glued stubbornly to second place, whilst heavy discounting sees NFS: Hot Pursuit leap up to third.

Gran Turismo still seems to be selling well and maintains its spot in the top ten, whilst the fantastic Donkey Kong climbs up a spot.  What’s quite scary is that, despite being 6000 years old, Mario Kart Wii is once again stalking the top ten like some kind of hungry animal.  Don’t move; it can’t see you if you don’t move.

So that’s it, and I’ll take the opportunity to wish you a merry Christmas, and stay tuned to TSA because although the news may be slowing, we’ve been hard at work on some interesting articles for you all.

  1. Over 3 million sales of Black Ops in the UK now.

    • Crazy isn’t it?

      • Really is. Especially when you consider it has only been out for six weeks.

      • And also when its a terrible game ;)

      • They’re so over-rated too I hate charts but Prof Layton, GT5, Donkey Kong Yay! the nation ain’t entirely insane

  2. I suppose I’m among those “enraged ps3 fans”. =P
Although enraged is a bit exaggerated..

    • Sorry for double post*

      • Haha you should read my Twitter feed at times – ‘enraged’ describes it perfectly.

  3. I suppose I’m among those “enraged ps3 fans”. =P
Although enraged is a bit exaggerated..

    • I have Déjà vu

      • Me too, but it’s not one of denzels best films
        :-)

  4. They basically halved the price of NFS, it was obvious it would leap up again.
MoH has leaped up quite a bit too.

  5. Nice to see Layton selling, LOVE these games

  6. MoH has gone up a bit but tats beacuse its under £20 atm, and there are a lot of good games there and all the ones im getting for xmas are in the top 6 :D still next week can you take out the wii games, it really annoys me as they are all shite games on there

  7. Good to see my favs still in there. Surprised as well, MoH going ok considering the amount of copies that got traded in for CoD BlOps!

  8. Why don’t they just reduce the RRP of games? It was always accepted that eventually games will come down in price (Platinum releases etc) but lately you’re talking a matter of weeks before Zavvi are selling them for £17.95! It’s getting to the point where unless it’s a mega release (something like COD or Uncharted etc) I’m scared of buying it at launch for fear it’ll be under £20 in a couple of weeks…

NFS Hot Pursuit is a fantastic arcade racer IMO and shows all the polish you’d expect from Criterion as well as brilliant online integration from the Autolog, I didn’t get it at launch just because I had other games to finish but did get it for around £30 which is well worth it but it still annoyed me that a week later Zavvi added it to their £18 pile.

Why do games carry a £49.99 RRP when not even retail outlets are foolish enough to list them at that nowadays? Why isn’t the RRP reduced to £39.99, then people can get them online for £29.99 at launch – if they can afford to sell them at £18 there’s clearly enough margin in it for them…

Then again maybe the VAT increase will spell the end of the £17.95 game…

    • Because those who are willing to have the latest titles as soon as they hit are willing to pay that price point. Simple.

  9. If it was MW2 or a game akin to its calibre sitting up at number1 I’d be annoyed. Black Ops however I’ve enjoyed. So I’m ok with it. Far more balanced and fair and just feels like a better game.

Should hopefully be getting GT5 for Christmas!

  10. not supprised by the top 3 glad to see that gt5 is higher than any xbox exclusives
