Windows XP Recreated In LBP2 Beta

14Oh sure, you think you’ve seen some impressive things made so far in LittleBigPlanet 2. Cult Valve favourite Portal perhaps? Or retro RPG Final Fantasy VII? How about a whole operating system (well almost)? A team of LBP enthusiasts have been working to build a functional homage to Windows XP in the game, and it is damn impressive.
The crazy team (Boss_Mob, SaggySackBoy, tomatenbrei and daFRED94) have recreated the operating system, including a file explorer, media player – try and guess all the music tracks lovingly recreated with LBP2′s tools – an internet browser, and even games! There’s three in the level, including a cute space shooter, and something called Celex that I won’t even pretend to understand.
I could go on about the “videos”, which are actually pre-programmed Sackbot routines to music, the authentic logon noise, or the amusing reference you’ll find in the Recycle Bin, but really you should just go and play it yourself. Unfortunately, if you don’t have the beta yourself, you’ll be waiting until January, but you can at least pretend you’re playing by full-screening the YouTube video we’ve embedded below and randomly mashing buttons on your DualShock. If you’re that desperate.

I have an idea, PS3 streams your imagination through USB pads on the side of your head, and LBP makes you the level.

Man, I’m not going to be able to make anything in this! I had a hard enough time making basic platforming levels in the first! Really impressive though, I’m looking forward to seeing what people make a bit later down the line as these early days levels are already incredibly clever.

Holy crap! These are amazing. Props to the people who made this. There’s no way I’m going to have the time or the patience to make anything worthy of people playing. My LBP level I put a lot of time into wasn’t even that good. A crappy platformer essentially!

It’s pretty easy actually, just stick a controllinator, emitter and anti-gravity tweaker onto a random block and you’ve got a top down shooter!
