New Dynasty Warriors 7 Game Info & Trailer

It’s a couple of months until Dynasty Warriors 7 launches across the globe, and instead of boring our readers to death with more character reveals (I don’t think we have even covered HALF of the full roster yet) today I bring more news on the actual game itself. As demonstrated in past footage and from the trailer below, Dynasty Warriors 7 still retains the same core mechanics as its predecessors, though the latest offering will also include several new features.

Chronicle Mode is the most prominent addition to Dynasty Warriors 7, allowing the player to define their own experience. Characters fight in unique skirmishes, and can also align themselves with bigger factions  to participate in landmark battles which can be replayed in order to upgrade skills and weapons. In between fights, the player will also be able to interact with other warriors as well as visit cities to trade wares. In essence, Chronicle Mode shares the same structure used in Dynasty Warriors: Strikeforce, and will also be playable online, though this hasn’t been detailed in much depth. On the other hand, DW7’s Story Mode is rumoured to be single-player only, the only imaginable reason being that KOEI want to capture a more cinematic experience this time around.

Players wanting to create their own fighters won’t be too happy to hear that Dynasty Warriors 7 won’t feature an Edit Mode. Though it’s a sought after feature, the omission shouldn’t come as a surprise; KOEI probably have plans to introduce the regular “Empires” and “Xtreme Legends” expansions for Dynasty Warriors 7 in due time.

  1. Hmm, not sure I’d be that happy if the main story wasn’t multiplayer – they’ve got to have local MP in some way, it wouldn’t be Dynasty Warriors without it!

  2. Whenever I play DW6 splitscreen, it’s normally in Free Mode, so it’s not a big loss for me. I’m sure the online play in Chronicle Mode will do more than compensate.

  3. Is DW7 actually DW6 in Japan or have I missed something ?

    • Correct. In Japan, they omit the original DW (which was a fighting game) from the series.

  4. Nooooo, no multiplayer in storymode is terrible. It was always a million times more fun in co-op.

  5. So they’re accentuating the worse part of Dynasty Warriors (the cinematics) and removing the best part (split screen co-op) – yup, sounds like a fantastic idea Omega Force. This is exactly why I wasn’t interested in Strikeforce…well, that and the fact it felt like taking on an army with a helium balloon.

  6. I see the developers have remained faithful to the time period…
Jubei Ninponcho was very famous for using enemies as skateboards and mowing their compatriots down, hmm…
