I can count the number of core PC games I’ve played over the last 10 years on one hand, but even I heard about the ridiculous requirements for the original Crysis game. Crytek just revealed what’s going to be needed to run the bare minimum of Crysis 2 on your rig.  They’ve yet to announce their ‘recommended’ settings but since the game is launching on consoles this time around, hopefully you’ll still be able to play the game at a reasonable quality without owning a top end gaming machine.  You can find the stats below, along with a new trailer for Crysis 2 titled, ‘Be Strong.’

  • Intel Core 2 Duo or AMD Athlon 64 X2 2GHz or better
  • Nvidia 8800 GT or higher
  • 2 GB RAM
  • Windows XP/Vista/7
  • 9 GB free hard disk space
  • Internet connection

  1. Hmmm:

“These minimum specs are not official or final,” wrote community manager Cry-Tom on the game’s official forum.

“We’ll have an announcement about this soon. Please note if you didn’t hear it from me/see it on MyCrysis, then it’s not official,” he concluded.

  2. Good job that they’ve made the requirements a bit less ultra-extreme. I might just get a crack at playing this on PC.

  3. Great trailer, now off to google for the nearest PC World.

    • Noooooo…… don’t do it! Not if you want a PC that works and isn’t massively over-priced at any rate!

      • no worries, was only joking.
Not a priority atm, plus my current budget wouldnt allow it.

Will certainly take your advice for future ref.

  4. That was pretty much the same requirement for the first Crysis.. The relentless pace of PC upgrades must have slowed somewhat.

    • I was just thinking that myself. My computer is thankfully okay to play it but I have the first two to enjoy before then.

Also, when they release Left 4 Dead 3, I’ll upgrade my card to something beefier. Saying that, Valve’s own engine is always incredibly gentle on hardware.

    • It hasn’t slowed at all really, it’s just that the ‘new’ engine hasn’t really improved, it’s just been optimised to work on consoles.

I’m saving judgement until I’ve seen someone with more money than sense run it at max settings though, but at the moment it looks slightly worse even than the original engine, they’ve just done the UE3 trick of making things look rounder :)

  6. So is it still a PC killer?

  7. Treyarch take note!

Excellent news, i’m upgrading in a couple of months anyway but this is great for CD2 users.

  8. That is a great trailer,wish I had a gaming machine.

  9. Well I more than meet the specs, but will I do it justice. Probably not. Thats my problem with PC gaming, I’m quite happy to play Tetris on my original GameBoy, but if I can’t max out the settings on PC I feel somehow cheated, I’m gradually being lured away from my PC for games. If I could use keyboard/mouse for FPSs on PS3 I wouldn’t look back.
