Remember those ‘core’ Kinect games you were promised? This ain’t one of them. Warner Brothers have announced “Once Upon a Monster”, a Kinect game in which players assume the role of Cookie Monster and other Sesame Street characters to teach youngsters ‘key life skills’ and encourage physical activity.

The game is being developed by Double Fine, president and CEO Tim Schafer said,

Sesame Street had a profound effect on me, and many members of the Double Fine team, when we were children. So did video games.

Now many of us are parents and we want to share with our kids the great experiences we had, but also the completely new ones made possible by cutting-edge technology like Kinect for Xbox 360. So it’s a labour of love on many levels.

The game is slated for release this autumn, so start counting down the days. One! Two! Three! Ah ah ah!

    • I agree, just the fact that it’s about the cookie monster is enough to justify buying it. But it’s also made by Double Fine! Yatzee!

  4. As a kiddies title – you have to hand it to MS they have selceted well as Sesame Street will work very well for them.

This isnt for the Hardcore Green Gamers granted, however, not a bad little idea though for the snotty, high pitched little monsters of the world.

I’d rather look forward to Kz3 with Move thanks :-)

  5. Anything with Burt and Ernie in is a winner for me, I hope there is a “Here, fishy, fishy, fishy” mini game. But I don’t have Kinect. Or an XBOX360.

  9. This is fantastic! Fair play to the xbox and kinetic franchise going to new heights in gaming!

Think I’ll be sticking with My Killzone 3 and move experience.

I think the likes of the sesame street range will bring in a really huge crowd of new xbox owners, 2 year olds!
