Deep Silver Announce Risen 2

The next from the Dead Island publishers.

The embargo’s up, so here’s what Deep Silver will be publishing: Risen 2. The next game from publisher Deep Silver (after Dead Island) will be a follow up to RPG Risen, dubbed Dark Waters.

The game will feature an “expanded setting” with a new story and characters, set years after the end of the first game and boasts a “pirate” theme.

“Risen 2: Dark Waters aims to combine the most loved classic RPG gameplay mechanics of the original Risen with a fresh theme and setting on a huge variety of themed island locales. A third-person role-playing game set in a dark and gritty universe, Risen 2: Dark Waters maintains the most immersive features of the original Risen, with multiple approaches to every challenge allowing players to shape the game world based on their own decisions,” says the press release.

“These choices will serve to unlock new paths, features and additional skills for the character.”

The publishers tell us the game will be the “most immersive RPG so far” and suggest you go look at http://www.risen2.com for the teaser site.

Definitely go to the teaser site if only to scroll around the island and enjoy the lovely artwork they’ve cobbled together. Very nice. However, the icing on the cake? The distant thunderstorm on headphones. Damn, I love listening to thunderstorms.

One of the best PC RPGs in recent times. There was also a version for the 360 but apparently that one turned out to be a bit of a mess and was quickly forgotten.
