Zumba is still king of the castle this week, as people rush to get in shape for the summer. Personally I’ve not managed to fit into my bikini for months now, but that’s a story for another day.
Homefront is proving to be quite the resilient little FPS as it clings onto a spot in the top ten, whilst Shift 2 takes a plunge. It also seems that MotorStorm Apocalypse has gone to the big race track in the sky.
Wait…who’s that in at number nine? Oh no, it’s back…

I know. I don’t get why fitness titles are popular… although it is worth noting it’s almost entirely Wii sales.

No, I’m not saying it doesn’t deserve to be up there – it is a brilliant game, I’m just confused by how it’s still in the charts.

Has anyone looked at the PS3-only list? Looks completely different! Tiger Woods is #1, MotorStorm: Apocalypse is #5 (up one place), and LittleBigPlanet 2 moves up a massive 10 places, from 13th to third. It would be interesting to know the percentage of software sales PS3 makes up. Can’t be an awful lot, judging by that.

Thanks for the link, i’ve bookmarked it. I was glad to see Mass Effect 2 in the PS3 top 20. Mass Effect 2 is soon to get an update as there are problems caused by the ‘Backstory/Genesis Comic’
Here’s the official Bioware thread:

Talking to chaps in Gamestation, they said there has been a recent surge in MW 1 and 2 sales.

I must admit, if it wasn’t for the online portion of the game being majorly hacked I was going to pick up a copy of MW a few weeks ago… unlike WAW MW2 and Blops, I actually really like MW1 lol :)

@TSA – another suggestion, to go with the new ideas, moving forward article would be a chart list overall and for each console too as mentioned by Darth and Turrican :-D

A while ago I asked TSA in blog format to do an article/figures on the previous generations of consoles and their respective sales figures. I was kind of interested as i grew up playing various 16 & 32-Bit consoles. Anyway, I thought i would do it myself:
(SOURCE is wikipedia)
Worldwide sales figures
1.Super Nintendo = 49.10 million
2.Mega Drive/Genesis = 40 million
3.TurboGrafx-16 = 10 million ]
Compared to the other generations, gaming in those days was still considered not mainstream. Now take a look at the best selling console of all time:
PS2 = 150 million units sold as of January 31, 2011
PS1 = 102 million units sold
Now compare these SONY figures of Units sold to Sony’s competitors to see how much of an impact the PayStation brand has had:
Nintendo 64 = 32.93 million
Sega Saturn = 9.5 million
Now that i’ve done a tiny bit of research into the console unit sales, i wonder who is the richer of the big three companies, Microsoft, Nintendo or SONY?

i think its Microsoft at the moment since its also got a lot to do with the PC market as well but as far as gaming goes i’m pretty sure Nintendo is the top dog at the momemt

These figures are right as of 2007. When i say right, someone from yahoo answers went onto each companies website and did the math for me, lol, but here’s what i found: How much are the BIG THREE worth? (Net)
Microsoft = $268 billion
SONY = $40 billion
Nintendo = US$10.86 billion

You forgot the (more impressive) sales of the DS which easily breaks 250 million, you may say that that’s taking into all versions of the DS but if you remember there are two version of the PS2, your figure takes both into account. Money wise, Sony may have made more than Microsoft on Consoles but Microsoft as a company is worth more. Sales wise, Nintendo are easily ahead.

You’re right, Nintendo are massively in the lead in the handheld department. It almost mirrors what Sony did to Nintendo in the 32-Bit era…

I believe the NDS family has sold about 145 million worldwide, so nowhere near 250M!

Really glad to see Tiger 12 so high up there, by far their best release for years, loving it. They’ve seemingly fixed all of the rubbish things from last year’s version and this one is filling a lot of my limited spare time now. Good work EA!

Might pick up Homefront. I couldn’t decide between Homefront and Bulletstorm and eventually picked up Bulletstorm which is great. I think when the price drops I’ll def pick up Homefront.
