PS3 To Get Oddworld Compilation

And new game announced.

Just Add Water are working on a PS3 version of the Oddboxx, a compilation of the first four Oddworld games that’s already available on Steam (and currently an amazing £12.99).

The pack will contain Abe’s Exoddus, Abe’s Oddysee, Munch’s Oddysee and Stranger’s Wrath.

The PS3 version of Stranger’s Wrath will be the highlight of the bundle, although its release, now the Summer, has meant that the Oddboxx is also planned for the same sort of timescale – it was originally meant to be much sooner.

However, Just Add Water have decided to work on the version of Munch’s Oddysee, which will now be remade in HD too, alongside Stranger’s Wrath.

There’s nothing confirmed for the Xbox 360 version of Stranger’s Wrath though, due to wranglings with Microsoft.  They originally turned down the project, but Just Add Water are now in talks and making some progress.

To conclude, Just Add Water are also reviving Oddworld: Hand of Odd, a real time strategy game that was announced in 1998 but canned soon after.

“RTS games and Command & Conquer don’t particularly do well today,” JAW boss Stewart Gilray told Eurogamer this evening.

“Why don’t we look at it the other way round and say, ‘What is today’s equivalent?’ I hate to say this, but it’s the CityVilles and the FarmVilles. We’re going to try and apply a bit of that mechanic to that and see where that takes us.”

So in the Oddbox, Strangers Wrath will be HD? And will Munch’s Oddysee? Because those are the games I want as I have the two first ones from PS-Plus.

Yesss! :D Munch’s and Stranger’s in HD! Of course an HD revisit of Abe’s first two would be more than welcome, and I must admit I’d be more excited by a third Abe than I am by the “Hand of Odd” premise…

Wonderful news. Not a big fan of the RTS genre but will gladly take anything that is related to the Oddworld universe.

maaan, I read about Hand of Odd in Playstation magazine years ago… The first 2 games are still great, as long as I have scribbled notes in front of me with the gamespeak written out, I can’t wait to finally play Strangers and Munch as I missed both of em and theres no Mac version on Steam.
