Uncharted 3 Beta Updated To 1.02

Since last Tuesday thousands of players have been getting their first hands-on with Uncharted 3’s multiplayer component.

Although many have been impressed so far, there are still a number of flaws (mainly minor and bug-related) which Naughty Dog has attempted to remedy in its latest update; aside from inclusions such as Facebook integration and 1080i upscaling, a number of in-game elements such as medals and power plays have been altered for a more balanced online experience.

Here is the full list of patch notes:

General

  • Last place team in Three Team Deathmatch now gets placed into Observer Mode in Sudden Death

Gameplay

  • Disabled the accumulation of medals to stack Medal Kickback activations. Now, if your Medal Kickback is waiting to be activated, you cannot earn more medals that count towards your Medal Kickback counter until you have activated your current Medal Kickback. Players will still be awarded medals
  • Disabled the activation of a Power Play after 40 kills have been reached in Team Deathmatch
  • Increase the minimum time between Power Plays activating from 30 seconds to 60 seconds

Technical

  • Made updates to reduce the long Matchmaking wait times some players were experiencing
  • Fixed an issue where some in-game objects would not be able to be picked up by players
  • Fixed an issue where the idol in Plunder would not reset properly. The Plunder idol will now reset to one of the specified idol spawn points
  • Fixed an issue in which the team with the least amount of kills could potentially win in Sudden Death even if they finished the game with less kills than the first place team
  • Fixed issue with the game timer hitting 0:00 in Co-op Hunter and the match not ending properly
  • Fixed instances where some players would take damage through the shield in Co-op matches
  • Fixed issues which caused some players to experience trouble connecting to Multiplayer
  • Fixed an issue where some PS3 consoles would hard reset under certain circumstances
  • Added support for early generation HDTV sets that do not support 720p by enabling 1080i upscaling

User Interface

  • Change “Found Player” notification to reflect the actual player ID in the Matchmaking screen after having completed a match
  • Reduce the waiting time before the vote count down after a match from 30 seconds to 15 seconds
  • Added an option in the Display menu for disabling Uncharted TV
  • Sound from Uncharted TV now plays through TV output instead of the headset
  • Enabled Facebook functionality that was temporarily disabled. Players can now use their PS3 linked Facebook accounts to view the online status of their Facebook friends, send invites,  and join parties
  • Invite notification now appears in the Multiplayer Lobby. Notification will appear as a red asterix in the Invites tab.
  • Added an icon in the upper right corner of the screen to indicate that your buddy wants to High Five. Only appears when you and your buddy have created a “buddy kill” situation and the blue “buddy kill” icon appears on your screen.
  • New font for in-game text and menus

Server

  • Added additional data tracking to aid analysis of matches, player behavior, and other technical information by Naughty Dog

Naughty Dog promises that more changes are yet to come, and that there may even be a few surprise inclusions for beta players further down the road.

If you have any suggestions for the team, the official Uncharted 3 beta forum is the ideal place to post your feedback.

  1. I expect nothing less from nd but they’re doing a great job with this beta

  2. yea, it’s awesome. can’t wait for week three’s adventure co op :)

    • Or Yemen :0)

      • I don’t like the Co-op Hunter mode very much. It seems too chaotic and unbalanced. The team protecting the treasure have themselves and a host of AI to help them whereas the attacking team only has themselves. The defending team can just camp at the chests with the AI characters and wait for the other team to come.

  3. nooo! kickback stacking :( having 10 team medics saved up in co op was the best

    • im the same, maybe keep it that way for competitive, but we need kickback stacking for co-op

  4. thats a great update, well done Naughty Dog. This is what a beta is for, other companies take note.

  5. This is great, although I’m not playing the Beta too much. I have many games to complete and don’t want to spolit some of the excitement when the game finally arrives in November! :)

  6. Any word on when this patch is released?

  7. Nothing to stop the constant console crashes then? :(

    • In the technical notes it says “fixed a issue where some ps3 would hard reset under certain cercumstancies

  8. OK just waited about 10 mins and nothing for some reason I can not get into a game I never had any problems with the beta before

  9. its just to damn hard as a newbie to get even one kill. its massively unbalanced and feels unfair which is not something i enjoy .

    • Really, I only picked up Uncharted 2 about a month ago, started multiplayer for the first time last night and did pretty good, I didn’t think the Boosters (Perks not Cheaters) seemed to make much of a difference – only when one of the buggers got an RPG…which I think are scattered around the map, so it’s not like they can start with them…I think.

But then perhaps Uncharted 3 is different or just that they know the maps gives them an advantage.

      • No…
Uncharted 3 is definitely easier than Uncharted 2 though. You’ve more health, so you don’t die as much, unlike when I had a go of Uncharted 2 after a few days of the beta… :(
        Now THAT was hard.

      • I’m finding uncharted 3 beta really easy, its probably just the people in the beta that never played uncharted 2 online that are making it easy though.

  10. Great support. Certainly one of the best developers out there.
