Theatrhythm: Final Fantasy Details Emerge

Square Enix has released some new details about its upcoming Final Fantasy rhythm game for the 3DS. We also get to see what the game actually looks like.

According to Andriasang, all of the numbered Final Fantasy games up until XIII will be represented. Each game will have three stages with different gameplay mechanics: field, battle and event. For anyone fearing that the game will be too easy, you’ll have the option to change the difficulty to your liking.

Not much is known about how the gameplay works yet, but it was revealed that you’ll be able to form a party of four using the main characters from each Final Fantasy. As you progress through the game you’ll be able to collect music and movies. There’s also a leveling system of some sort.

As you’d expect, Theatrhythm will feature remixed tunes from each game in the series. Clash on the Big Bridge, One Winged Angel, To Zanarkand, and Sunleth Waterscape have been announced so far. You can listen to an upbeat version of the classic Prelude theme on the official website. It sounds pretty awesome.

Check out the gameplay screenshots below to see how disgustingly cute the game looks. If you go to the official site, you can poke various Final Fantasy characters in the face with your mouse. Go ahead, give it a try. You know you want to.

  1. Is it wrong I’m getting a sick satisfaction from poking Lightning?

    • Smacking Lightning up should be the core focus of this game, the ‘rhythm’ can be provided by The Prodigy’s Smack My Bitch Up.

      I think were onto a winner. ;)

  2. Disgustingly cute is right!
