Codemasters are starting up a new Bodycount video series, dubbed “Behind The Bullets”.  The first one is all about the guns themselves, sensibly, and is right here:

There’s lots of talking heads but they’re people who are passionate about the game, which focuses on ballistics more than any other FPS.

You can read our hands on with Bodycount from E3 here, and stay tuned for a lot more on the game from TheSixthAxis in the near future…

  1. There’s a lot of competition in the FPS market, especially with the two big hitters coming out in Oct/Nov, so it takes something to stand out from the crowd and I just don’t see that something special in this game. Sadly I feel that this game will be a miss for Codies.

  2. Talk is cheap, boys. I am optimistic but what I SEE is something that’s not particularly new or revolutionary. When I watch the video what I think to myself is, “Oh look, another FPS with a floating machine gun in the bottom right corner.” Is nobody sick of that yet? Because God knows I am.

Pros don’t shoot like that, shotguns can’t lift somebody off of their feet, explosions can kill you from quite far away, I could go on. It’s time the industry upped the ante on FPS’s something serious. I’m not saying it has to be particularly realistic or anything, but as a whole all these guys need to step back and instead of adding “new” old features to a bland formula, build something from the GROUND UP that brings a NEW experience to consumers.

  3. Loved Black, IMO it was just pure mindless fun. So this game is definitely on my radar. FPS are like racing games- some are realistic, some are arcade, but as long as the primary mechanic works they’re fun either way. As far as I’m concerned a FPS only needs two things, guns and good shooting mechanics… and this game appears to have both. So it won’t sell 18 million copies, but I bet it”ll be as fun as any other FPS out there, especially once stuff starts blowing up. If it’s anything like Black, the game will do fine.

  5. My two cents…. this looks terrible. As amazing as Black was, from what I’ve seen of Bodycount it seems shameful to even be considered a spiritual sequel to quite possibly the best FPS from the last gen.
