Sony: We’ve Got Loads Of PS3 Games

Sony have fired us over some stats.  Stats about games – and they’ve got, by counting ‘worldwide’ figures – bloody loads of them.

Firstly, they claim 50 million PS3s as of the end of March 2011 – a figure we’ve heard before but it’s a nice round one so it kinda rolls off the tongue a bit.  Not quite as nicely as “future proof cutting-edge” and “sophisticated processors” but we won’t mention those.

Anyway, here’s the first figure: 60,000.  That’s the number of PS3 games, game demos and video content that’s currently available.  Another?  2,495.  That’s the number of Blu-ray disk games worldwide available.  Five shy of another nice round number – they should have waited two days.

Here’s another: 120.  That’s the number that are stereoscopic 3D enabled.  The number of games that are Move supported?  200.  There’s also 3,100 PS3 games available on the Store, apparently.

And finally: 5.  That’s the number of times we did a mini-sick when reading the press release which was, admittedly, more about the price cut.  Yay!

  1. Go team PS3!!!

    • TEAM PS3 FTW!

      • Wait-a-go Sony fanboys! :D
(I’m one my self, of course). :))

  2. Pretty sure Crazy_Del has all 2495! disk based games :P

    • OMG!!! That is the perfect sum of the games 0_0
nah only kidding I have no idea to be honest but SONY should thank me ;)

      • I’m pretty sure DJ-Katy has a hefty chunk of them! :P

      • Yeah DJ Katy has like 264 games to play 0_0

      • Wasn’t it 361 trophy games or something? I lost track to be honest, especially now she’s not on my friends list.
I only have around 70, but at least 220 games on my/my brothers 360.

  3. I can definitely believe the last statistic, press releases can really make you gag, so much so that i’m surprised they haven’t stopped.

  4. Most of the scum gaming internet sites are not interested in “worldwide figures” SONY. They are only interested in ‘USA figures’ LoL

  5. Wait? 3,100 PS3 games??? It would feel like around 160 or 200. Unless its counting every kind of game :? (PSP, PSone, Minis etc etc)

  6. 2,495 Blu-ray disk games? That seems way too much.

I thought there were around 500 Blu Ray disk games.

    • 500 Trophy-enabled games, so with a few hundred Trophyless games, 700 games on Blu Ray would be reasonable.

    • I’m thinking the are counting every country specific version, GOTY versions etc. as different – this would multiply up the count massively.

      • Yeah they must have done that. Can’t see it getting to that total otherwise.

    • In the West maybe but worldwide there will be all those bizarre Japanese games involving diggers, schoolgirls and bottoms. I bet there are a fair few of them to be honest.

  7. That is a lot of gaming hours. I wonder how many years it would take to complete every game and i mean 100% complete it. Although you would need a few TBs as i would imagine that the games would take up all of your harddrive. :)

I think you would need a empty room to store the amount of blu ray disc games. :)
