PES 12 Will Get 2 Demos

Apparently, Konami are planning two different demos for their much loved soccer simulation. I missed this one this afternoon but it’s a little bit peculiar so it might be worthy of a bit of discussion.

The first demo will be out on Wednesday. It’s made up from preview code and is not indicative of the final game. You’ll get ten minute matches with a choice of teams including Manchester United, Porto and AC Milan.

The second demo will be more like final code. It will be released closer to the game’s October release date and will also feature ten minute matches with a different list of teams, including Tottenham Hotspur, Rangers and Internazionale.

So, will first impressions really count with the unfinished code putting many off the game or will those people come back for a second demo and experience the more polished version too? It’s certainly a novel approach from Konami and it gives some interesting insight into the development of a game.

Both demos will be available on the PSN and XBLA.

  1. I really don’t get the point in doing these two demos. Most people will download the first demo and think it is final code and if it is bad, they will have that outlook to the final game – putting them off from buying. Personally, I would of just gone with the one final build demo.

    • makes sense, I wont even bother with it, its not going to be any different than last year too.

  2. I guess it could be like their version of a beta and change the game based on feedback but it is a bit odd, especially if the preview code has many things to iron out which will definitely put off a portion of players but if they’re really keen on seeing the game then they’ll probably be buying it anyway and for those who weren’t then maybe the two demos will give them enough playing time to enjoy it.

    • I completely agree. I’ll download them both anyway, I generally download a lot of demos anyway.

  3. If the demo’s are 10 minute games then thats me sorted , £40 saved! I love footy but nothing since Emlyn Hughes International Soccer and Sensible Soccer has really pulled me in .
I have bought recent PES and FIFAs and i never play them solitary just occasionally when certain mates are round , and never enough to warrant me buying the yearly update so this free game will suit me down to the ground .

  4. They did this last year, except I don’t think they planned it.

  5. This makes me think that Konami have a few concepts for the game which they cannot decide on so are putting out two demos to let the public choose.

  6. Surely this will to get a foot in the door (waheey…!) to remind people PES still exists as it comes out nearly a month after the FIFA juggernaut. I hope this years PES is an improvement over last to give FIFA some genuine competition.

    • that was my first thought too. That this demo will arrive around the same time as the FIFA demo and might be designed to keep people’s mind on PES. If it’s too buggy or rough around the edges though, it might only serve to highlight how good FIFA looks in comparison…

  7. Very odd. Surely with game releasing in mid-October there’s minimal scope for any feedback from the 1st demo to be addressed in the final code.

  8. Strange strategy, (oct 14, bring it.)

  9. Niiiice

  10. just played it, MUCH improved over the last instalments. it makes a change from the seemingly scripted Fifa games of late, freeflowing football and just generally looks really nice.

few niggles in that it still sounds like your firing a gun when you pass the ball and the animations aren’t yet up to scratch (it is alpha code though isn’t it?)

can’t wait to see what the final build is like, i think i’ll have both titles this year :)
