Witcher 2 Sales Approach 1M Milestone

According to the Warsaw Business Journal, critically acclaimed action-RPG The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings is steadily closing in on a total sales figure of one million. Since its release back in May the CD Projekt RED title has shifted over 940,000, managing 400,000 copies on its debut week.

With The Witcher 2 currently available exclusively on the PC (an Xbox 360 version is expected in the near future) and developer CD Projekt still largely unknown to the gaming masses, it’s a substantial achievement and one which will hopefully drive the Polish company to create even more innovative and enriching titles.

  1. Great to hear. It’s a fantastic game from a fantastic dev who have supported it extremely well since its launch and continue to do so. Plus, no DRM, which makes me happy.

I hope it does really, really well.

  2. I’m itching to give this game a try but I’ll need to check out the 360 version as my PC just isn’t capable of running it. That said, hopefully it comes out sometime next year as I won’t be able to pick it up before the end of this year.

  3. I want this game but my laptop will spit the disc out at me if i even dared to try and run it. :( I really hope that they will port it to the PS3 in a few years time as it looks like something i would enjoy. I am glad that they are being rewarded for their hard work. I have a feeling that they will be an excellent major developer.:D

  4. Great game. The devs earned it. I hope they continue to make great games like this.

  5. I hope they make a PS3 port, the game looks great.

    • Yeah to get my money a PS3 port will be needed. If they do a 360 port and not a PS3 one I won’t be happy.

  6. Certainly looks a great game, and the developers are what devs should be! Supporting their game to the max. I hope they have a PS3 port, but if not, the 360 will do.

  7. I finished it a couple of days ago, great game and until DX:HR came out, it was a contender for GOTY.. Having said that tho, I do think the first one was better, from a purely RPG point of view. Also, for those who havent played it, the first one can be got for peanuts and will run on ageing hardware too..
