Back in the days of the ZX Spectrum I wrote a fake ‘hostage’ letter to Your Sinclair (you can see it below), claiming to have taken hostage of all Codemasters’ releases and threatening to send them, one by one, back to Your Sinclair.
In those days, Codie’s releases were of dubious quality so this was a terrifying prospect.
Heading up the operation were the Darling brothers, the West & Zampella of the 8-bit era. The Darlings sold their share of Codemasters for $70 million in 2007 and now – brace yourselves – David Darling, is back with a new company, Kwalee. The company will be developing – what else – mobile apps.
Kwalee is a start up so right now is recruiting the key people who will define the company and who will grow with it. This is a fantastic opportunity for the right candidates.
Kwalee will develop smartphone apps that are very special indeed (not just games), we are striving to give our customers unique and rewarding experiences.
Welcome back Darling.
The outcome of the hostage letter? I won three games as the ‘Star Letter’ for that issue of Your Sinclair. Three Codemasters games. Gits.

I remember that letter. Help me.
Really? Small world isnt it :)
I genuinely think so, yes.
I remember it too. So, so old!
I don’t remember, *checks age*
That’s bloody hilarious that letter!
I pine for the days of Your Sinclair and Sinclair User (never was too bothered about Crash) . My favourite was always the one with The Young Ones on the front cover and of course an interview with Matt Smith http://www.worldofspectrum.org/showmag.cgi?mag=YourSinclair/Issue02/Pages/YourSinclair0200001.jpg
Yay more mobile apps.. Great letter though!
