Shank 2 Announced

"Shank still has a lot to give."

Remember Shank? This violent side scrolling combat game burst onto the scene over a year ago, scoring a 7/10 in our review. It looks like Klei isn’t leaving it there though, as Shank 2 has been announced. Klei founder, Jamie Cheng, had the following to say:

“Creatively, Shank still has a lot to give. We took the feedback from the community and ran with it, putting our own flavor on every change. For Shank 2, we literally took apart the game and put it back together to push the envelope in combat mechanics, visuals, and 2D animation in games.”

It’ll be due out next year as a downloadable title.

I am certainly no prude when it comes to violence in video games but after playing the demo for this I have to say i think it oversteps the boundaries .
Its in cartoon form yes but carrying a big knife around dripping in blood stabbing everybody just seems a little strange and yea i suppose thats no different to God of War or even Golden Axe but there was just something about it that i cant put my finger on but it just felt un-necessarily violent.

It was probably the sound effects that made it seem unnecessarily violent for you, it was very schnickity schlick. I don’t think it overstepped any boundaries though.

I loved it to bits (heh) and I’m looking forward to the next chapter.

I enjoyed Shank, but found it quite repetitive. I was tired by the end, and it’s only a story game! If they can mix up the gameplay a bit this time then I might get the sequel, but otherwise probably not.
