Cloud gaming service, OnLive, is offering a free Micro Console to anyone who pre-orders Batman Arkham City for the platform.
Arkham City is priced at £39.99 on the service but that price is slashed to £27 for those who have signed up to the Onlive Playpack Package (£6.99 per month.)
Those who already have an OnLive Micro Console aren’t left high and dry either, thankfully. You can opt to receive a free game instead of a console and will receive a code that will be e-mailed to you once you pre-order Arkham City.

Does this offer apply to Ireland as well? I’m on the fence with onlive, but a console and game for that price is tempting.

If your broadband can take it. Old skool gamer myself, like my boxed up disks….

Digital is handy maybe more for PC and PSP/3DS/Vita… I’ll be honest its great to rent and to have more space…

I hope you have a Gametrak on that shelf

Ooooh me too!

Crunchy Nut Cornflakes and Princess Tuna were pretty good. I Can’t Believe Its Not Butter was disappointing.

I did this just yesterday with Saints Row 3. I rather fancy having the B: AC special edition for real on my PS3 anyway.
Good price if you’re not fussed otherwise, though.

I did exactly the same with Saints Row 3 to get the console, for some reason I agree about Batman I kind of want to play it on my PS3, can’t explain why though.
Pretty impressed with the service and the games this far.
teflon
Saints 3 looks like a bit of throw away fun, whilst I really want the physical product for Batman and most games, really.
OnLive for me will be more about trialling games and snapping up the odd deal. Occasionally I might get the month long subscription as the catalogue increases in size and diversity.

Still…not sure…
So tempted, but I’m just put off by the whole ‘not owning the games’ side of it. That and relying on the UK’s shaky-at-best internet infrastructure.
ABlokeCalledDaz
Although you don’t own the games, the ones you buy are guaranteed to be supported for around 10 years minimum I think, which to me is plenty of time.
ABlokeCalledDaz
10!!!! WTF am I talking about, sorry 2-3 years.
heedbaw
or the other caveat is if not many people are playing it will be wiped before the 2-3 year period.

Perhaps you were thinking in binary?

It’s on the blog, but when you follow the link it simply takes you to the US site and offers you 50% off for pre-ordering. No mention of the free console, and offer cited in the smallprint as US only :(
Kevling
Ignore me, found it on the UK site, but it only gives you the offer when you click “learn more”

Will be ordering this tonight, and be haging on to the code in the hope that another title as equally exciting is released very soon

The console itself has a standard value of £70. Heck, buying a second controller will set you back £50 or something crazy like that. So it’d be more advantageous to get the little console.
The actual cost of the games isn’t too bad anyway. If you get the £7 PlayPack for a month, you get 30% off whatever else you buy in that time. So Saints Row 3 for £25, Batman for £27, that kind of thing. Beating day 1 console prices anyway.
Just be warned. They take the money when you pre-order.

I will have to ignore anything OnLive related simply because it will eat my 20GB monthly internet quota at 10% an hour.

They’re going a bit bonkers with the freebies it seems. The queue for a free micro console at Eurogameer on Sunday was insane.
Sympozium
This sounds stupid…but can you trade the micro-console? hehe I’m desperate for money, I just plan to use my pc but I don’t think I’d pre-order.
KeRaSh
I hope they will give away that many consoles when they launch the service in Germany. Do you have to buy the OnLive controllers separately? If so, how much are they?
Sympozium
I don’t think so should be bundled? You could get a wired 360 Controller as well
