Activision Announces 007 Legends

Celebrating 50 years of Bond

Activision has confirmed the existence of 007 Legends, which is being developed by Eurocom and will release on PS3 and Xbox 360 this Autumn.

007 Legends will feature an original overarching plot that will incorporate six James Bond titles including the latest film, Skyfall. David Oxford, Executive Vice President of Activision Publishing, Inc. said:

“To honor 50 years of the world’s top secret agent, 007 Legends offers a collection of his most famed moments in the smartest and most treacherous Bond game yet.

Creating a video game storyline that ties together six popular, yet very different, Bond movie narratives can be challenging, but together with EON Productions, our developer Eurocom, has pulled it off to create an homage that we think will be a unique and highly entertaining Bond video game.”

007 Legends will also include MI6 Ops missions which can be played using other characters apart from Bond. The game will also include 4 player local multiplayer, as well as online multiplayer with maps inspired from the James Bond franchise.

    “4 player local multiplayer”

That might be enough to persuade me.

Just had a look at Eurocom’s pedigree
Previous Eurocom developments have included many of the biggest selling titles in the industry including games based on James Bond, Harry Potter, Ice Age, Batman, Crash Bandicoot, Pirates of the Caribbean and Tarzan. We also create original games, including the critically acclaimed Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy.

We have a number of high profile, unannounced titles in development for release in 2012 and beyond. Our most recent developments include Disney Universe (PS3, X360, Wii) for Disney, Goldeneye Reloased (PS3, 360) for Activision and Rio (X360, PS3, Wii) for THQ.

hope they can tie this together well & it’s a damn site better than Bloodstone.
Personally I liked the QoS game, but that was Treyarch… Would be good for a Bond game to be good again

I sort of wish they’d not bothered trying to tie the plots together, that sounds a bit cack. I’d be perfectly happy with just playing the good bits of 6 different Bond movies, kinda like with Stuntman.

Still, 4 way local multiplayer is a very appealing prospect. Nothing has ever really filled that Goldeneye hole

James Bond, fast cars and “4 player local multiplayer” = pretty much sold.

I hope the multiplayer is similar to Nightfire and Goldeneye rather than the awful loadout system of Goldeneye Reloaded.

Maybe it will be based on the CoD engine? The MI6 Ops sounds a lot like Spec Ops mode from MW2/3. There is a percedant for this of course, in the Quantum of Solace game. It might be ok I suppose…
