Ubisoft Hints At A Full Length Ghost Recon Movie

TSA brings you news hot off the Olympus VN-5500 Digital Voice Recorder which I used to record the Q & A that occurred after the BAFTA screening of Alpha, the short film that acts as a prequel to the new Ghost Recon Future Soldier game.

The movie short itself is rather good and features a couple of characters from the game as well as a nice cameo from a well known actress. It successfully emulates the franchise, starting quietly as the team move into position before the explosions begin. As this is set in the near future, there a couple of pieces of tech in the movie including a quad rotor with a machine gun – deja vu.

I won’t spoil the plot but I can tell you that if you get to see the film, pay close attention as there is a code hidden within the movie that will unlock some goodies in the game.

During the Q & A, Ubisoft representatives were asked if there were any plans to expand the short into a full length movie and this was greeted with nervous laughter by the directors of the film François Alaux and Hervé de Crécy as well as the Ubisoft representatives.

They skirted around the topic for a couple of minutes and did say that Ubisoft Motion Pictures was set up to create full length movies but they could not comment on any future projects. However as they all had massive grins on their faces when they said that it was obvious that plans are afoot.

  1. Ubi have so many great franchises that could be made into movies, and with Ubi Motion Pictures they would be stupid to not at least think about doing one for GR.

  2. Bet it would be good.
