Okay, I know that if I complain about this there’ll be a slew of comments where a few hardcore Sony apologists reply. They’ll basically either tell me to shut up moaning (fair point) or tell me that they’d rather this regular downtime for maintenance than another security breach (also a fair point).
But I do want a little moan and here’s why: I think this is a far too regular occurrence and I think that we all deserve better than to have maintenance so often and at such peak times.
That said, I would rather this than another massive security breach and I do tend to moan a lot. So there you go. We’re both right. Hugs?
Oh, the facts: The PSN will be undergoing maintenance between 16:00 and 23:00 BST today. It shouldn’t cause disruption to gameplay but there might be the odd little glitch for a limited number of users. So it’s not as bad as usual and you should still be able to sign in and play your games but if there’s a problem, you’ve been warned why.

I agree with your moaning. This really is happening to often, I wouldn’t mind if they did it overnight or earlier in the morning. Why always the afternoon, when more people are likely to be playing?!

You do know that not everyone on the planet is on the same timezone as you, right?
Mike
Everyone should use GMT/BST
/discussion :p
Sympozium
So tiring… its getting really annoying….
philzy85
Agreed, we need more updates and less maintenance. And when I say updates I mean the ones that introduces features rather than just add 0.01 to the version number

Hey, I’m with you on this CB. I get quite fed up with UK’s peak time outages (although it doesn’t happen as often anymore). The notice period they give for them is poor too, considering that they are for scheduled maintenance.
Mike
I agree, I think it is becoming a too regular occurrence. Recently, pretty much every time I’ve tried to connect to the Store I’m thrown a maintenance message.
Nickboss1
as long as i can still play online, not fussed.
Smallville2106
It is a bit annoying, but I agree with your comment.
BIGAL-1992
Do people still keep banging on about Cross Game Chat for PS3?
Nickboss1
one day
Mike
It’s coming BIGAL, I can feel it!
(inb4 that’s what she said) :D
Boomshanks
That’s what he said, ha
Mike
Your name should be BOOM!shanks :P
Bladesteel
It’s kind of turned into a running joke.
I’d comment about CGC if it wasn’t already mentioned. Even though I really don’t care and would be very surprised if they suddenly managed to squeeze it into the limited resources left once a game is running.
hol
As long as its just account management & the store, I don’t really care. As long as I can log in & play online, it’s no issue for me. But that said, near every week does seem a bit much?
Paranoimia
As I understand it, the maintenance is carried out in Japan. Since they’re about 8 hours ahead of us, that’s why it always falls at inconvenient times for most of the SCEE region.
Ed the Penguin
True, but why can’t they let us know at least a day or two in advance? I know they have done it in the past, but it isn’t a common thing for them to do.
Paranoimia
Shouldn’t really matter this time, though, as sign-ins and online play *shouldn’t* be affected.
Usually, when you won’t be able to sign in or play online, they do give quite a bit of notice.
jimmy-google
As long as it’s not on a store update day it doesn’t bother me. It’s never effected my playing.

A browser that stops freezing… You have to have hope:)
stage1
The browser is great now thanks to the previous update.
cnutard
Are you on the right firmware? ;)
I’ve been using the PS browser while my netbook is out of action and haven’t experienced any problems anywhere near as bad as it was before the update. I actually ended up refusing to use the browser pre-patch because it was so naff, but now I’m more than happy to surf with it.
E8_BALL_
(yes using latest update.) Browser is drastically better, but i still get freezing requiring a hard reset.
