Codemasters have announced that there’ll be a free demo for DiRT Showdown released today across Xbox Live, PSN and PC (via Steam). The demo will feature a solo single player race and a “devastating” multiplayer demolition derby event.
The single player race is the ’8 Ball’ race that we’ve seen before, which Codemasters describe as a “chaotic, full-impact race in the shadow of San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge” and the multiplayer demo is the “Rampage” mode, an eight player destruction event.
“Gamers who download the DiRT Showdown demo are also invited to sign up for RaceNet,” says the press release, “the free new online extension for Codemasters Racing games, which enables players to track their Races, Rivals and Rewards.”

I’d forgotten about this! I guess I’ll have to get it downloading on both my PC and PS3 when I’m home!
After seeing some gameplay footage on YouTube, I haven’t been that impressed. But, I guess it’s how it plays, not how it looks when played.
Me too i loved the last 2 Dirt games but after the Youtube vids and traiers it has not grabbed me plus its only been a year since Dirt 3,Well hopefully the demo is good enough for e to put a pre order in.
yes please, this looks like fun. Not sure on signing up to something just for a demo though
RaceNet will be used for all their future racing games. F1, DiRT Showdown & 4. Also GRID 2 when it’s released!

Oi you – when Rally?! … sorry if that’s a bit rude but i really miss the good old ColinMcRae games and nothing has come close this generation. Make it happen! :)
The last racing game I bought was MarioKart7 day of release. May give this demo a try :)
Will give the demo a go before deciding whether to get this.
Loved the Colin McRae/Dirt series until the last game, I was put off by all the gymkhana stuff.

Dirt seems to be played a lot at TSA so I might as well buy it, Dirt 2 was great but never got Dirt 3.. have to but I guess I should just wait for Showdown.
Just checked the PSN and it’s still not available, yet.
I’m assuming that the demo released today will be the US one, we’ll probably get it tomorrow.
