No Release Date Yet For Stranger's Wrath Vita

Finishing up.

Stories have been floating around the web suggesting that the Vita version of Stranger’s Wrath HD will be releasing in June. This isn’t the case – development might be going swimmingly but currently the team are only “targeting” June as the month that the guys at Just Add Water are looking to “finish up” the first round of development.

“We started work on [the Vita version of Stranger’s Wrath] about five and a half weeks ago,” said JAW’s Steward Gilray on the latest PlayStation Blogcast.

“The guy who’s doing it had actually never touched a Vita before — he just plugged it in and read the documentation. He probably spent half a week reading the documentation and then the next week he already had the code running. He was surprised how quickly he managed to get things going.”

In other news, the Move and 3D patch for the PS3 version is “with Sony” and should hopefully be released in the not too distant future, assuming all goes well with certification.

June sounds great; Gravity rush, this, and probably some other Vita goodness too! If this doesn’t come out in June, then it’ll be a shame, but it’ll also be perhaps undervalued as an announcement compared to the “big” things at E3.

Sweet! I just started playing the HD remake on the PS3 and loving it so far. It fits nicely into the Oddworld universe.
I recently saw a screenshot of Munch’s Oddysee running on a Vita so I guess that’s happening too?

ditto. great news though, they should do this a LOT more as it’s apparently super easy to port games from ps3 to Vita (I expected a LOT more on the store for Vita).

Well if the guy was surprised from never having touched a Vita to having the code up and running in two weeks, really shows that Sony has got the development side of Vita sorted.

And this should prove useful for the PS4.

Wait, it’s just one guy porting it?
I know they’ve said it’s relatively easy to do, but come on!

I think there’s a lot of confusion over how long things have taken, but suffice to say, it’s looking awesome, as Pitchforkdlsney can confirm as he’s just had a look at it!

I now understand why socks are optional at Just Add Water; mine were knocked off by Strangers Wrath.
