Following on from our report at the weekend – where we hinted at a remixed PS3, streaming and expansions to the current PlayStation Plus service – further rumours have surfaced in relation to the same discussion.
“Multiple sources have indicated that part of Sony’s E3 press conference,” say Eurogamer, “will be devoted to running through the revamp, which is designed to help convince more people to sign up to the premium subscription service.”

Will our discussion about a PS3 refresh come to fruition?
The other rumours point to integrating PS Vita with the existing service – exclusive games, massive discounts and cloud saving, all of which are currently missing from the portable’s Plus subscription details.
SCEE’s Ross McGrath continues to hype whatever’s coming via Twitter – “oh f**k, absolutely yes,” he said today when asked about buying Plus from an Australian user, based on his earlier Tweets. He’s confident, but knows what’s going on.
To be fair, these latest rumours don’t really say anything that we haven’t already heard or discussed, but it’s reasonable to remember that there’s rarely fire without smoke, so – as we said a few days back – all eyes on Sony this E3. If Plus is boosted as much as we’re hoping, it could be massive.

Gonna be Sony’s E3 again this year, by the sound of it.
I do hope they do something to integrate the Vita into Plus, even if it’s an additional/separate tier – it could make the difference between the console succeeding or failing.
Hopefully if they’re re-launching it with new features, then some of the older features will become available to all (e.g auto-downloads and cloud saves).
If they add some super-duper new features and outline future content with included more newer games, then I’ll at least sign up for 3 months and see how it goes.
I might consider subscribing to Plus if it turns out to be really awesome.
My sub is up the 8th of June I think.
I’m hoping for Vita games more than Gaikai streaming.
That said, after buying Super Stardust, Tales from Space, Motorstorm, Escape Plan and Table Top Tanks, I don’t there’s many budget games they could give me.
I’d be happy to get discounts and the like though.
Or, you know, the ability to play the PS1 Classics they give me, as well as the ones I’ve bought. You know, crappy games like Final Fantasy VII, VIII and IX, Metal Gear Solid, Medievil, Tomb Raider, Crash, Resident Evil et. al.
Thinking about it, could the extension of Plus to Vita include the ability to play PS1 (PSN too?) games only for Plus users? Would Sony go that far?
No.
I don’t think they would to be honest.
The outcry would be very loud, they don’t want that.
Surely.
Wouldn’t have thought so, they’d lose a fortune in sales.
Gt1,2, 3 and 4 hd remastered on vita please
Yes, we demand it! :)
There would be a big download queue if they did that.
Hey nofi, I think you meant ‘there’s rarely smoke without fire.’ :)
Do i? :)
Not sure whether you do, but you should as that would have been the correct use :oP

For those games that are being hyped for their cross-platform features, cloud saves on the Vita are a necessity!
Those games are actually not using the cloud saving feature on the PS3. Motorstorm RC (and soon Sly 4) is just saving your progress on their servers when playing on both PS3 and Vita. How else would it already be working on Vita with Motorstorm RC?
I didn’t know that, *sheepish* :)
Sony’s year again I reckon ^_^
PS+ is great anyway more stuff bonus.
