It’s been one of the most requested applications for the PS Vita and Sony have finally announced that it will be arriving in “late June”. It will be available as a free download on the PS Vita’s PlayStation Store.
“With the YouTube application on PS Vita, you can watch millions of YouTube channels and videos on the stunning 5″ OLED screen, from comedy to gaming tips to today’s viral trends,” says the press release. “The YouTube application features many of the functions you’re already familiar with – you can easily search for videos, choose favorites and make comments.”
“Your personal YouTube account is available right on your PS Vita by logging into your account, you can access your channel subscriptions to watch videos from your favourite creators.”
The announcement also says that Sony will be continuing to introduce “more unique, social and immersive experiences” specially for the PS Vita throughout the year.
The one caveat to the YouTube announcement is that, as is reasonable, it will only be available in “YouTube serviced territories” within the SCEE region.
Those territories are Australia, Belgium, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Netherlands, New Zealand, Poland, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom.

Yay!! Some good news to start the day. Would be nice if we could send links in PSN messages!
It’s a shame they didn’t keep this for E3, I think it would have gone down twice as well.
Excellent, lets hope Vita gets even more support like this.
People can now stop moaning, “when is the YouTube app coming” man sick of it lol.
When will the vita play ps1 classic seriously lol
That was a good Friday rant :)
People outside the list of SCEE territories getting acces to the app will still be able to complain. The “YouTube serviced territories” getting it are:
Australia, Belgium, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Netherlands, New Zealand, Poland, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom.
So inhabitants of Portugal, Greece, Norway, Finland, Iceland, etc., will be moaning about it for a while yet. :-)
As long as the UK have it, we can all celebrate, Portugal have christiano ronaldo :)
Does this mean HTML5 or flash is also coming to the vita?
moan.
Too right. It’s good to have it but the amount of crying over it has been unbelievable.
Fuck you Sony, fuck you, seriously… F U C K .. Y O U. I am so sick and tired of this. Another service, which we are not getting here in Denmark. It doesn’t make ANY sense at all, none what so ever, that the Youtube app will be missing form multiple countries like Denmark, Finland, Norway, Portugal and many more.
But fine Sony, if you want it that way, I’m selling my Vita soon, if they don’t start showing some respect, I’m sick and tired of being treated as a “second-class customer” from Sony.
Glad I just bought a tablet, because it’s clear Sony will continue you to screw you over.
A bit more relaxed now :P
It’s possible it’s a screw up from the blog people, would not be the first time. So looking forward to E3, I’m guessing they are going to talk about it there.
I think that’s more down to YouTube than Sony.
It sounds like YouTube doesn’t actually do those territories officially, so the app won’t either.
Not sure about that. Countries not on the list, are supported by Youtube. And everybody else have no problems creating a youtube app for the left out countries, so why not Sony.
It feels rushed to me, like everything Sony do.
Scandinavian countries need better treatment from Sony, disgraceful.
just the browser update and ps1 play and ill finally have the device i thought i purchased on day 1.
I’d settle for Sony forcing developers to enable Remote Play in all games… :)
Good news, nice addition
Yay!
Sweet, i was hoping for this!
Nice addition. I hope that ps1 compatibility is introduced during E3. I want to play my Final Fantasies on the Vita! Would be good if a few more ps1 classics were announced too!
FFS! How hard can it possibly be to allow streaming in all countries that isn’t under some heavy internet protection like China? First Google take away the High Quality option on my phone, and now they deny me from streaming videos on my Vita? This better get rectified.
