EA’s E3 Conference Trailers

Electronic Arts’ press conference left us feeling somewhat underwhelmed it must be said, something that is perhaps reflected in the rather small number of videos that EA have released despite making us wait a while for them.

Their opener was the even more action-based and less survival horror game, Dead Space 3, which commits the fatal sin for horror games of adding co-op.  It’s never more frightening when you have friends nearby.  This video is both trailer and the game play shown yesterday.

There were some more details revealed about the upcoming 1.3 Update for Star Wars: The Old Republic.

As surprising as an uncloaked nanosuit is Crysis 3.

The appeal of football games has always escaped me but here’s a trailer for the probably supermarket-discounted FIFA 13:

Perhaps the most positive reaction from those of us watching was reserved for the return of Criterion and Burnout Paradise 2 Need For Speed: Most Wanted.

  1. Must say i agree with what you said. NFS looked lile great fun though, mainly because it was so much like Burnout Paradise which i loved.

  2. Was really hoping for Mirror’s Edge 2. Still, definitely not the worst keynote…

    • for the first couple of seconds of the NFS trailer i thought that might be a Mirror’s Edge announcement.
      but alas,no.

      • Have to agree there. The Most Wanted logo has a very Mirrors Edge feel to it. Still think MW will be superb and will likely be the first NFS I buy in a good few years.

      • I belive that’s where I thought they were going to show Mirrors Edge 2 too, though that was before the trailer started, with the similar music going on.

  3. They mentioned W&Z were in the audience so it was a shame Respawn didn’t have anything to show off. Burnout Pursuit did look alright.. but i just find autolog and as an offline player i find the constant nagging to connect to EA’s servers annoying and insulting. Now that Mass Effect is dead, i’m not sure if EA have anything on the way that i really want.

  4. Currently playing through Dead Space 2 and I am in no way looking forward to the third. Resident Evil got co-op right to a certain degree but Dead Space is naturally much more imaginative and scary than R.E. I think Visceral would be better off concentrating on a sequel to Dante’s Inferno.

  5. Looking forward to Dead Space 3 and Crysis 3!

  6. I’m so glad Criterion are doing another NFS game. They seem to have a solid business plan, bring one out every other year and let someone else stuff up the intermediate release!

  7. Dead Space 3 looks awesome.

  8. Maybe I’m too closed minded, but I stopped listening to NFS as soon as I heard ‘open world’.

  9. I loved Crysis 2, but after seeing the demo of Crysis 3 i wasn’t really blown away with it, idk maybe it was the way that bloke played through the demo, i can’t put my finger on it.

Also i wish they stuck with Alcatraz instead of going back to Prophet, and what was going on with the energy bar in the demo it wasn’t draining at all whenever he went into cloak and armor modes!
