Nights Into Dreams HD Coming This Autumn

Am I dreaming?

Sega’s demise as a console manufacturer is still a point of much sadness for some. Some of the best, most imaginative games appeared on those Sega consoles during the ’90s. One of those games was Nights Into Dreams, a kind of flying platformer first released in 1996 for the Sega Saturn.

The HD remake will feature all original levels with improved visuals and a 16:9 screen ratio as well as trophies or achievements and leaderboards. It will also allow you to play the original Saturn version, unaltered.

It’s coming this autumn to PSN, XBLA and as a PC download. Here’s the trailer:

Now just got to wait for them to announce it on Vita, so I can play it and Jet Set Radio on the train.

Part of me doesn’t want to know what this will be like, because my fond memories will remain safe. The other part wants to relive the glory of this game and forget the atrocity of the ‘sequel’.
I also feel that Sega have a knack of ruining remakes somehow, making them worse than the original.

Wasn’t there a similar game that was released on the Wii?

I worked in a video store back when Knigts was released and I remember it going absolutely ballistic, I never realised before how many people actually owned a Saturn!

As cool as this is, the idea that SEGA know these remakes are popular is self-defeating. If they know people liked original content like this, why aren’t they continuing to invest in new, unique games?
